What's the matter, Ben? Aren't you glad to see me? Haven't you learned by now that nothing can stop me?!
~ Zs'Skayr to Ben after being resurrected.

Zs'Skayr, also known as Ghostfreak, is the secondary antagonist of the Ben 10 franchise.

He is the Ectonurite High Ecto-Lord of Anur Phaetos and Anur Transyl Ectonurite. Originally stuck in the Omnitrix in the form of "Ghostfreak", he managed to gain control over it after time and escape the Omnitrix, becoming one of Ben Tennyson's most cruel, feared and dangerous enemies.

In the original series as well as Ben 10: Omniverse, he was voiced by Steve Blum, who also voiced Vilgax in the same show, Ares in the God of War video games, Green Goblin in The Spectacular Spider-Man, the Loki Master in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Starscream in Transformers Prime, Darkseid in the DC Animated Movie Universe and Jindiao in Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny and Doomagedon in Regular Show. In Ben 10: Alien Force, he was voiced by Jeff Bennett, who also voiced Dick Hardly in The Powerpuff Girls and The Huntsman in American Dragon: Jake Long.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

In General[]

  • He was still conscious inside the Omnitrix, attempting to take control of Ben to escape while also taunting him.
  • He is shown to be very sadistic and violent as he takes pleasure in harming others.
    • Whenever taking control of Ben in his Ghostfreak form, he'd viciously beat or even psychologically torture his opponents, such as the Circus Freaks in "Ghostfreaked Out" and Zombozo in "Last Laugh." This behavior would greatly frighten Ben and cause him to become fearful of using Ghostfreak.
    • He killed a Florauna in which Wildvine was supposed to be the ninth alien for the Original Series, implying that Zs'Skayr possessed the Florauna for the sampling of the ninth alien and killed the Florauna.
    • Anyone or anything he finds worthless is tortured for his amusement and kills them when the usefulness is done for.
  • He has a habit of either threatening his way to dominance, beating his own minions or betraying anyone once he has what he wants.
  • He doesn't show any care for his minions as he only sees them as nothing but pawns and slaves that he uses to do the dirty work, and it is very plausible that he would kill them if they angered him enough.
  • While Zs'Skayr was imprisoned inside the Omnitrix and was used constantly by Ben for heroic or ordinary deeds, this does not make him in any way tragic, because Ben had no idea that he was imprisoned inside and it is not even his fault that he got imprisoned. He is never portrayed sympathetically and his actions have nothing to do with his imprisonment, as he chose to commit many heinous crimes against innocent people, including Ben, who had nothing to do with his situation.
    • It is his fault for being imprisoned, as he was possesing a Florauna when Myaxx collected samples for the Omnitrix, and it is implied that he killed the Florauna, making his tragedy even more invalid.
  • Despite the Ben 10 franchise's high heinous standards, Zs'Skayr stands out for his crimes of possession, enslavement, and brainwashing committed on a large, global scale while living up as one of the most terrifying and dangerous villains in the series to the point that even his linked consciousness with Ghostfreak made Ben afraid of turning into Ghostfreak again, fearing that Zs'Skayr would try to take over his body again. Even his name means "the scare."
  • Like most villains in the Ben 10 franchise such as Vilgax, Zs'Skayr has no redeeming qualities and is one of the franchise's villains who has committed mass brainwashing and possession as well as being one of the villains in the series who has committed mass murder.
    • Because of this, he is one of the most intimidating and dangerous villains in the series as well as one of Ben's most sadistic archenemies due to being more personally cruel to Ben than any of the other villains.
  • While he does have some comedic moments later on in Omniverse, they never detract from any of his nasty and vile crimes as he is still taken completely seriously in-universe and showing how much of a horrible, black-hearted and psychopathic creature he really is.

Original Series[]

  • He constantly attempted to possess Ben (who was only a 10-year-old child at the time) in order to take control of the Omnitrix multiple times.
  • He threatens the Circus Freaks into joining him by physically abusing Thumbskull.
  • He stalked Ben until he transformed into Ghostfreak than Heatblast in order for the escape to be completed.
  • He possesses Gwen and uses her as both to fight Ben and as a human shield before he then threatens to kill her if Ben didn't surrender, showing Zs'Skayr is willing to hurt children.
    • Even when Ben does surrender, he still sics the Circus Freak Trio, whom he had just forced into being his minions and slaves, after her and Max since in his words "[Ben] had a deal with me, not them!"
  • He stalked Ben to get revenge on him for his previous defeat from "Ghostfreaked Out."
  • He launches a Corrodium beam from a satellite station across Earth, mutating the entire population (except the Tennysons) just to block out the Sun and be at full power.
  • When Viktor questions why they're focusing on Ben instead of the plan, Zs'Skayr possesses Viktor and rams him into the floor and wall for questioning his order, and all but implies that he will kill him if he does so again.
  • While fighting Ben in space, he sadistically gloats: "It will be a pleasure to watch you explode in the vacuum of space!"

Between the original series and Alien Force[]

  • In From Hedorioum to Eternity, he possessed Thaddeus J. Collins and tricked Kevin into mining hedorioum and feeding it into his furnace for his portal of Ectonurites to take over the Earth.

Ben 10 Alien Force[]

  • He attempts to take over Earth again by using an army of Ectonurites to possess people.
  • He betrays Vilgax after he helped him escape his prison and enslaved Vilgax's planet, converting countless citizens (including kids) into Ectonurite slaves to obey him.
  • During his fight with Vilgax, he tells him that soon his Ectonurite slaves will infect other worlds, if not, the entire universe as he planned to have them board dozens of ships and send them off said planets to start infesting them.
  • When Ben became Ghostfreak again, he took over Ben's body and tried to kill Gwen, Kevin and Vilgax.

Ben 10 Omniverse[]

  • He possessed plumbers into taking him to Anur Transyl and without Ben's knowledge, stalked Ben into taking him to Anur Transyl.
  • He consumes King Xarion's soul to reawaken Dr. Viktor mainly because he is useful to him.
  • He uses the magic of the Alpha Rune to resurrect the Vladats from extinction, not caring when Dr. Viktor objects to the plan or that they fed on and enslaved Viktor's species.
  • He enslaved the entire population of Anur Transyl with Lord Transyl's Corruptoras, and almost did the same thing to Ben until Dr. Viktor betrayed his master to prevent the Vladats' resurrection.
