“ | It is from me that all life is born. It lives only for me...and it shall be RETURNED! | „ |
~ Zanza |
Zanza is the main antagonist of the videogame Xenoblade Chronicles.
He was voiced by Shintaro Asanuma in the Japanese version and Adam Howden in the English version, who also voiced Shulk. In his initial Giant form on Prison Island, he was voiced by Stephen Greif.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- As Klaus he tried to create a new universe despite Galea's protests, which resulted in the destruction of the old universe.
- This also causes him and Meyneth to become Gods of Bionis and Mechonis respectively.
- Out of fear of the people of Bionis leaving, he engineered an endless cycle of destruction and rebirth so that he could feed off their Aether to survive.
- He did this by having Telethia kill all life on Bionis.
- Once all lifeforms are dead, he kills the Telethia and destroys existence, reality and space-time so he could continue the cycle.
- In an attempt to defeat Meyneth and take her Monado for himself, he possessed the Giant Arglas and then attacks Agniratha, starting a war between the Homs of Bionis and Mechon of Mechonis.
- He then did battle with the Mechonis who was controlled by Meyneth and managed to severely wound her before being defeated.
- These acts also caused Egil to hate all life on Bionis and as result makes Zanza resposbile for Egil's attacks and attempts to destroy the Bionis.
- Dickson even points out that everything leading up to his revival was all intended by Zanza. Including Metal Face’s attack on Colony 9, along with Emperor Sorean and Gadolt’s death.
- When found in Monado form by a group of Homs who explore Ose Tower on Valak Mountain, Zanza sucked the life force out of them which resulted in their deaths, including Shulk's parents. Just so he could possess the four-year-old Shulk and use him as a future vessel.
- He manipulated Shulk by giving him visions to guide him to defeat the Mechonis for him.
- After being revived he kills Meyneth, he takes her Monado (even laughing sadistically in the process).
- He then turns all the pure-blooded High Entia into Telethia. Thus condemning them to a fate worse than death.
- Destroys the Mechonis which kills many innocents. He also kills Egil, who was in control of the Mechonis.
- Unleashes the Telethia on Bionis to wipe out all life on the giant.
- He attempts to kill Shulk and his friends and create a world with no free will.
- He displays no empathy for his own creations, believing them to just be food and vessels for him. He also dismisses the High Entia as primitive creatures that he gave free will to on a mistaken whim and that they should be grateful for it.
- While he states he wanted friendship with his creations, Shulk points out that Meyneth treated them as equals and that all Zanza wanted were slaves. Zanza doesn’t even deny this, saying that he was mistaken to grant free will.
- He displays no care for any of his Disciple's when they die, and his offer to have Shulk become one was out of pragmatism and not genuine care, as Shulk pointed out.
- Overall, he stands as the most heinous villain in the entire Xenoblade Chronicles series, with having destroyed the original Universe, inadvertently creating the worlds of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, and eventually leading up to the state of the world in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (which the Consuls take advantage of). Pretty much all of the suffering that has occurred in the series is directly and indirectly the fault of Zanza.
