Zaboera is a major antagonist in anime and manga series Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is the power-hungry commander of the sorcerer army, he is an old demon that desired to be the supreme commander of the demon army, in order to achieve this, Zaboera is willing to do everything, including backstabbing his allies.
In the 1992 movie, he is voiced by Naoki Tatsuta. In the 2020 show, he is voiced by Mitsuo Iwata in Japanese, and by Lee Tockar in English, who also voiced Makuta Teridax in the Bionicle Films and Frieza in the Ocean Dub for Dragon Ball Z Kai.
What Makes Him Pure Evil[]
- He kidnapped and brainwashed Dai's adoptive grandfather Brass to make him fight against Dai.
- He takes advantage of Crocodine's pride and insecurity by convincing him to summon Brass against Dai, which he nearly drops away his honor to ensure his victory.
- He has Heyedra constricted Maam to prevent her from healing Dai so Crocodine would kill him if it weren't for Popp.
- He callously snickers at Hyunckel's supposed death after Flazzard seemingly drowned Dai and the others in lava after his defeat due to disliking him.
- He and Myst-Vearn went to stop Dai, Gome and Baduck from destroying the Dark Flame Spire so Flazzard's Blizzblaze Curse Field should be remained intact. While mocking Dai when he's trapped in Myst-Vearn's Dark Puppetry Aura Hand, he tortured Baduck by casting a Thwack spell on him.
- Casted Morph on one of his minion to make him looks like him so Crocodine would kill said minion accidentally in order to save his own skin.
- He and Hadlar tried to ambush the heroes when they are asleep, when Hadlar's is defeated, Zaboera tried to abandon him and flee.
- For his experiments to create Superior Beings, he sent his son Zamza to capture eight powerful fighters including Maam and kill Dai and his friends to collect battle data for their experiments.
- He treat everyone as disposable tools, including his own son Zamza. These cruel words of his caused Zamza to became insecure so much that he decided to prove himself not to be underestimated so much.
- He also showed no sadness or concern over his son's death as long as he got what he wanted to transform Hadlar into a Superior Being.
- In order to gain Vearn's respect, he went out to search for Dai and kill him. He also attempt to incinerate him and his friends to death by casting a powerful Kafrizz spell via Hexcitation until he was stopped by Hym under Hadlar's orders.
- He betrayed Hadlar by restraining him so Vearn could kill him by impaling with Staff of Edacity.
- He knew that Vearn implants a Black Core inside Hadlar, so he decided to leave him to be exploded as long as he'll survived from an explosion, causing Myst-Vearn to threaten him to not talking back about him.
- He summoned the monsters from the Underworld to kill Dai and his allies once and for all.
- Seeing Popp is the only one whose insignia hasn't glowing yet, he attempt to threw a Venom Chain at him to ruin Dai and his friends' effort to cast Kaglimmer on Vearn Palace, but Merle took the hit instead of him, causing her to almost died and getting poisoned.
- He tried to abandon Myst-Vearn when they were losing their advantages, but only for Myst to abandoned him because he knew he'll be executed if he does.
- He killed his injured minions to make himself a Hyperzombie Demon, which is something he has planned all along. The heroes became horrified and disgusted of what he did as result.
- As a Hyperzombie Demon, he tried to kill all of the heroes including Lon Beruk who went to finish him off with the Star Emperor Swords, leading both his swords and arms to be broken as result. After he's finally defeated, he cowardly tried to run away until Crocodine corners him.
- By pathetically begging for mercy, he tried to poisoned Crocodine to brainwashed him when he seemingly decide to spare him until realized that Crocodine is only pretending when he dropped his axe onto Zaboera's hands and kills him.
- Unlike most of the members of the Six Legion Commanders, Zaboera has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and hardly fight his enemies himself. He is nothing but a selfish coward who does nothing but relying on others for his survival.
- Despite being less heinous than the likes of Vearn and Flazzard, Zaboera has less resources due to being weaker, and stands out due to his poor treatment of his underlings.
