Yuuki Terumi, also known by the alias Hazama, is the main antagonist of the BlazBlue franchise. He is an officer of the NOL intelligence division and the one responsible for burning down the church Ragna, Jin and Saya lived in and cutting off Ragna's arm. He is secretly one of the three wirepullers behind the NOL alongside Relius Clover and Hades Izanami, whom he plots to enact Armageddon with.
His true identity is the deity Takahaya-Susano'o-no-Mikoto, the brother of the Master Unit: Amaterasu, who developed free will apart from the Master Unit and dedicated himself to destroying all of his sister's creations. The Susano'o Unit is his original body before his consciousness separated from it so he would not be subordinate to Amaterasu any longer.
His true form is that of a ghost and as such he must possess a host body to stay anchored in the world, his first host being Kazuma Kval before he transferred it to one named after his alias "Hazama". Terumi being a ghost also means he will fade away if people forget about him, thus Terumi frequently torments people for no other reason than so he can continue to exist off their hatred, something he wouldn't have any other way.
He is voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura in the original Japanese version of the games. In the English dub, he was originally voiced by Erik Davies up until after Continuum Shift, and has been voiced by Doug Erholtz ever since Continuum Shift: Extend.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Created the destructive Black Beast that ravaged most of the world.
- Murdered Jubei's brother Tomonori because he could.
- Corrupted His vessel Kazuma into becoming like him and turn on Trinity.
- Forced Nine the Phantom into Boundary and revived her as his brainwashed servant.
- Emotionally manipulating Trinity Glassfille and forced her into Boundary, causing her to lose her physical.
- Founded the oppressive N.O.L. along with Sector Seven in order to manipulate both organizations against each other.
- Orchestrated the Ikaruga Civil War to use the countless lives lost in order to power up Hades Izanami.
- Wiped Jin's memories of the Ikaruga War so he wouldn't find out about him instigating the war.
- Overthrew Tenjo Amanohosaka as the leader of N.O.L. and replaced her with Hades: Izanami.
- Burned down the church housing Ragna, Jin and Saya, possessed Jin into cutting off Ragna's arm, and killed Celica A. Mercury.
- Tortured Saya in order to allow Hades Izanami to possess her body.
- Turned Tsubaki Yayoi against her friends and psychologically manipulated to get her to kill Noel Vermillion.
- Mind-broke Noel Vermillion to drive her to despair so he can transform her into her true form Mu-12.
- Hacked and hijacked the Takamagahara system.
- Conspired with Relius Clover and Hades: Izanami to bring about Armageddon, killing further billions.
- Treats Hazama as a disposable pawn and abandoned him.
- Mind-raped Nu-13 that drove her even more insane and used her as a distraction, so he can kill stab Hakumen in the back and reclaim his Susanoo Unit.
- Attempted to destroy the Master Unit, his sister.
- Attempted to destroy and recreate a world where everyone kills each other for his amusement
- While he does have comedic moments whenever he appears in the Gag Reels, particularly in Let's Start a Band, none of the them are canon so they do not detract his horrible deeds at all.
Trivia[]
- He, Relius Clover and Hades Izanami are the only BlazBlue characters to be Pure Evil.
- Terumi was inspired by the Joker from DC Comics, being a psychotic villain with a deranged laugh and green slicked back hair who loves torturing his enemies either psychologically or physically. They are also criminal masterminds to go along with all that unbridled insanity, so they are also sadistic and manipulative by nature. However, his true identity as Susano'o makes more of an expy of Satan/Lucifer instead.
