Yuri is a powerful psychic who used to be the Chief advisor of Premier Alexander Romanov of the USSR and the main antagonist of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and its sequel expansion Yuri's Revenge. He was the leader of the Soviet Psi-Corps who later turned against the Soviet Union and the rest of the world.
His ultimate goal is world domination and plans to achieve this with his psychically/DNA-enhanced army. He appeared in the video game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 and its sequel Yuri's Revenge, where he became such a threat to the world that both playable factions, the Allies (USA and allies) and the Soviets (USSR and allies) aim to foil his plot.
He was portrayed by Udo Kier, who also voiced Peter Straub in Call of Duty: WWII.
What makes him Pure Evil?[]
- Forcing America's nuclear missile staff to self-destruct their missiles and silos, forcing one of the operators shoot the other one dead with a phone call.
- In the Soviet Campaign: Murdered Premier Romanov and framed General Vladimir for it to remove him from his seat of power and take the position of Premier for himself.
- Later, after sending the Soviet General on several important missions, he plotted to control his mind after realizing his tenacity. Even after being defeated by the General and reduced to an experimental brain in a jar, Yuri still expressed a desire to see inside the General's mind.
- Creating and weaponizing a lethal virus that would cause infected enemy infantry to release a toxic explosion upon death that would infect other nearby infantry and repeat the cycle with enough nearby soldiers.
- Deployment of Chaos Drones which released a dangerous gas that forces enemies to fight each other in a frenzied state.
- Using Magnetrons to pull enemy vehicles and ships to their doom by dropping them on top of each other or on buildings in the former's case and dropping the latter on land; or closer to units that would mind control the vehicles and their crews.
- Brainwashing American citizens with Psychic Beacons to submit to Soviet tyranny.
- Other temporary victims of the beacons included President Michael Dugan and General Ben Carville
- Attempting to control the minds of every human on Earth so that his will is the only will. He succeeds at this in the original timeline of Yuri's Revenge, necessitating the Allies/Soviets to travel back in time to undo his construction of the Psychic Dominators before they become operational.
- Extremely unethical human experimentation to study mind control, genetic mutation, and cloning.
- Use of slaves to collect ore to fund his war machine, simply because they were cheaper and slightly more efficient that ore miners used by the Allies and Soviets.
- The work the slaves were put to was so grueling and their treatment so horrible that that they would gladly change sides if their respective Slave Miners were destroyed.
- Forcing brainwashed allied, soviets, or his own units, especially slaves, to become genetically mutated Brutes, who have permanently lost their intelligence, free will, and have the mindset of school bullies and enjoy beating their enemies to death.
- Attempted to kill all world leaders and replace them with clones and have them pretend to surrender to Yuri to force other nations into submission.
- Blackmails a software company to agreeing to his terms by threatening to nuke Seattle with a Soviet warhead, which Yuri later launched at an allied outpost, completely destroying it.
- Sending brainwashed enemies, people who had no use to his world without free will, like many supporting staff from Hollywood, and even his own units to his grinders, which break down both mechanical parts and human flesh to convert into funds. This is considered to be his most ruthless tactic.
- Used his own forces and mind-controlled enemy infantry to bolster the power output of his bio reactors. Although the process is reversible and the mind controlled people inside them may be freed, this is only small comfort.
- Compared to all other villains in the Command & Conquer franchise, Yuri stands out for his ambition to rule all life on Earth and his numerous extremely cruel tactics.
Trivia[]
- Him, Anatoly Cherdenko and Stalin are the only Command & Conquer villains to be Pure Evil (Coincidently they're all from the "Red Alert" series of the Command & Conquer franchise).
- It's unknown if his Mental Omega version would count.
