Yaiba of Darkness is an operative of Dark Shadow who is obsessed with darkness and finding true meaning in it. That is why after meeting Masumi Inou he was captivated by the darkness within him. Therefore Masumi began being tempted to the evil within him by Yaiba once the Boukengers started fighting the Negative Syndicates. Yaiba of Darkness is a major antagonist of GoGo Sentai Boukenger.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- When coming across Masumi's abusive excavation group Yaiba proceeded to murder them all with slashes from his swords. Even though they were abusive they didn't deserve a gruesome death that they got, the abuse was inconsequential to why he killed them, and was also intending to kill the young Masumi, who was an innocent child.
- The only reason he decided not to kill Masumi was because he was impressed that he gave into his dark emotions by using them as meat shields to save himself.
- Both of the previous points were shown on screen which makes it stand out more.
- After confronting Masumi again after years once again, Yaiba tempted him for the first time to embrace the evil inside of him.
- While he made a deal to have a fair fight with Masumi as the Black Boukenger where the loser would give up two dolls, after Yaiba lost he took one doll anyway. Showing that he lacks any bit of honor.
- In many other battles following would continue to try in bringing Masumi to a dark place, by goading him into it.
- Made a Tsukogami monster impersonate Natsuki's "sister" in order to use her to find a precious called the Steel of the Heavenly Mine. Furthermore this also for a time turned her against her friends who she thought were her enemies.
- Stabbed Akutagami just for turning on Dark Shadow and wanting a better future. This action later resulted in the redeemed member being brainwashed which ultimately shows Yaiba's low tolerance and cruelty to traitors.
- Set up an adventure school to take innocents with high adventure potential and enslave them to raise a ship precious, the enslavement of which took place.
- Forced the Boukengers to surrender by threatening the life of an adventurer wannabe.
- Turned on Gekkou of Illusions to commence his final plan which shows he couldn't care less about his comrades.
- He first led Gekkou and his partner Shizuka to a forest and tied both of them up.
- Later using a forbidden precious painfully turned Gekkou feral and had no regret doing so.
- Using a corrupting precious and his words placed doubt and darkness in Masumi's heart.
- This led Masumi to abandon and desert his friends which cemented Yaiba's control over Masumi as the latter joined him.
- Planned on using his and Masumi's darkness to crash an asteroid on Earth to release darkness. On impact many innocents in Tokyo would die.
- In the darkness force field Masumi would be forced to see his friends die in front of him.
- The crime of corrupting a ranger may seem standard but is a very unique and rare thing for the Super Sentai franchise.
- Even when Masumi conquered his darkness, when Yaiba died he still tried to convince him otherwise.
- Beyond the grave led Masumi to exiling himself which led more chaos transpire.
Trivia[]
- Yaiba is a representation of what would happen if Masumi fully fell into Darkness and lost everything redeemable about him. As Yaiba is just that, an obsessive and cold villain who has no friends just enemies.
