What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- According to Hori, Yahmose's evil already lied within the family when Renisenb was absent, and Nofret's arrival only stirred the darkness within rather than bringing darkness from the outside. Yahmose was originally a loyal and kind man at first, but being bullied by his wife and his brothers had drove him to the edge, although people except Hori hardly ever notice.
- Even in childhood he shown himself as a vengeful person, as when he and Sobek were children and Sobek beated Yahmose, their mother came and told Sobek not to behave himself like that as "it's dangerous". Hori explains that she meant "it's dangerous to abuse Yahmose". Later, Sobek got himself a poisoning. It is implied already in the childhood Yahmose tried to poison Sobek.
- Yahmose became violent and vengeful once his father married a new wife named Nofret, who became his first victim. However, after killing Nofret, Yahmose began to relish in the power given to him through murder, so he went on in a killing spree against the rest of his family out of pure spite.
- After killing Nofret, Yahmose had found pleasure and enjoyment from killing Nofret, feeling much more powerful than before. Then, he started to kill anyone in his path to feel excitement of vengeance and murder.
- He lured his wife out and killed her for seeing him killing Nofret.
- Later, Yahmose manipulated his arrogant brother Sobek into a drink with him, with poisoned wine inside both of their cups. Since Sobek was a man of excessive taste, he drank more than the lethal dose, while Yahmose calculated the risk by drinking a little that is below lethal dose so that he could survive.
- He put on a rumor of Nofret's vengeful ghost haunting his family so that he could got away with the murders.
- A slave boy was coerced to be Yahmose's accomplice in killing Sobek, but was eventually poisoned to silent him.
- He also drowned his other brother Ipy to death just because Ipy could've shared the role of their father's regent and assistant with Yahmose himself.
- He later poisoned Esa, his kind and wise grandmother who had done nothing bad to him, in order to prevent her from deducing the killer's true identity.
- He mummified Henet alive when she mocked Nofret beside her corpse.
- In the reveal, Yahmose decided to kill off his own sister Renisenb, who did nothing wrong to him either, by luring her to place where Henet's corpse lied.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Pure Evil in Agatha Christie's detective fictions that has not show up in any type of adaptation, as of yet.
- Ironically, Yahmose is the only Agatha Christie Pure Evil that started as a tragic hero in the beginning, before his actions and sadism gradually killing off all of his heroic and sympathetic qualities. It is something that Hori actually show horror and sadness upon.
- Yahmose has the second largest on-screen murder counts committed by one single killer in Agatha Christie's story, losing only to Lawrence Wargrave in And Then There Were None.
- Unlike Wargave, who killed those that are guilty of crimes, Yahmose is much more relentless and cruel. He has no redeeming or sympathetic quality (or no longer has one when he begins to enjoy killing). Yahmose kills people only out of pure sadism and enjoyment, even including those that did nothing wrong (like Esa). He is also utterly remorseless in his actions to kill anyone around him, including innocent people and/or his own family members.
- Because of his above heinous qualities, Yahmose is considered to be the most evil culprit (as well as the cruelest villain) in Agatha Christie's detective fiction franchise, ever.
