William X. Malady is the main antagonist of the non-canon Batman novel Batman: The Ultimate Evil, and its comic book adaptation of the same name.

He is the head of an international child sex ring who has taken over the country of Udon Khai in order to force the poor people living there to hand over their children.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He's the head of an international child sex ring where he arranges pedophiles to rape children and send in tapes and photos of them doing so.
  • He's responsible for the deaths of Batman’s parents in this continuity. When he learns Martha Wayne is looking into his activities, he hires Joe Chill to murder her and her husband in an alleyway, and then having Chill killed when he suspects he might rat him out. It is implied that this is something that happens regularly.
  • He would then move to the poor Asian country of Udon Khai, forcing them to give them their children, some younger then twelve years old, in exchange for resources. When he has the kids, he forces them into sex slavery, renting them to pedophiles for 24 hours.
  • If the children he made into sex slaves fight back, they are drugged, as shown with a young girl Batman encounters. When the pedophiles are done with them, the children are then “thrown away.”
  • If someone wants access to Malady's business, they are then made to have sex with a child on tape, in order to make sure that they aren’t trying to infiltrate him.
  • He overall has zero redeeming qualities, viewing all of his actions as merely business and children as money to be made. While he has very limited screentime in both the original novel and the comic adaptation, his presence is felt throughout the story, and what little screentime he has establishes him to be a greedy, cowardly and opportunistic crime boss.
