“ | My desire to meet Arceus cannot be contained any longer! I need to know what it is! I MUST know what it is! If I can meet Arceus myself, then I may also be able to subjugate its power... And using that, I will attempt to create a new, better world! Of course, if I create a brand-new world, then this Hisui region that we currently exist in will be undone and returned to nothing. You, everyone you know, and all the Pokémon living here will vanish in an instant, as if you'd never been. | „ |

~ Volo summoning Giratina to kill the player, and his most famous quote. |
Volo is the main antagonist of the 2022 video game Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Being part of the Ginkgo Guild, he initially seems like a helpful guide to the player, guiding them in their quest. However, towards the end of the game, he reveals himself to actually be a malevolent cult-like follower of the god of all Pokémon, Arceus, seeking to use its power to remake the world in his own image.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He works with Giratina to open the spacetime rift, initiating the main plot of the game. This posed a world-ending threat, caused the Noble Pokémon to enter a frenzy (endangering those nearby), and indirectly led to the player character being stranded in Hisui.
- He plans to subjugate Arceus and use its power to destroy and recreate the world.
- When he loses his battle, he orders Giratina to attack and kill the player, despite the player character being a teenager.
- While he is nice and affable to everyone, none of this was genuine and was only part of a facade used to cover up his evil nature.
- While he does give the player the Spooky Plate, this truly does not make him remorseful, as he plans to come back later to conquer Arceus.
- Although he has Lucario, Roserade, and Togekiss, three Pokemon that require high friendship for one of their pre-evolution stages to evolve, he calls himself a "Pokémon Wielder," meaning he doesn’t care at all for his Pokémon and sees them as nothing more than weapons to use for his own selfish purposes.
- Despite the series' high heinous standards and attempting omnicide having been done before by Cyrus, Volo still stands out for having lower resources than him due to not having an entire company to work with.
