~ Tyran to Kellan and Echo. |
Vladko Tyran, also known as The Hand, is the secondary antagonist of the 2013 video game Killzone Shadow Fall.
He is the fanatical, violent leader of the organisation known as the Black Hand, a Neo-Helghast terrorist group. He is bent on destroying Vektan and New Helghan's fragile peace through multiple acts of terrorism across Vekta, without any regard for the lives he takes in the process.
He was voiced by Crispian Belfrage.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Despite Tyran being in a series full of mass-murderers, he still passes the high heinous standards of the Killzone franchise due to his low resources, in contrast to genocidal villains like Thomas Sinclair, Jorhan Stahl and Vyktor Kratek who have much higher resources than him. As such, he cannot be fully compared to the trio.
- Unleashed multiple terrorist attacks throughout Vekta out of his sadistic fanaticism in a brutal and murderous way to destroy the peace between New Helghan and Vekta. None of his acts are considered well-intentioned acts, as his attacks on the civilian populace was deliberate, willing to simply put many innocent lives at risk for no reason other than to sate his supremacist views.
- Bombed the VSA Headquarters out of spite in Vekta City, leading to civilian personnel and countless Shadow Marshals dead and injured from the attack. He also targeted various cities across Vekta, which resulted in thousands of civilians injured and hundreds having died from his slaughter.
- Secretly planted explosives within three of the FlyRail trains to kill off civilians not just inside the train but also in Vekta City, thereby amassing a hundreds attempted body count if it reached through the Central Station.
- Ruled over the Containment City with an iron fist, where he used the civilian populace as mere cannon fodders for the Black Hand. This shwcases his lack of care about the lives of his own organization but to himself, only seeing them as tools for his violence.
- In spite of his death at the hands of Kellan and Echo, Tyran's demise would directly set off Sinclair betraying the former after locating Stahl within the Spire, thereby revealing Sinclair's true colours of attempting to re-ignite the Helghast-Vektan war at the end of the game.
- While Tyran is shown to have a kind of mental illness that would impair his morality, this is all considered untrue as Tyran shows to have a clear understanding of morals, since he simply embraces his own villainy. This shows that he has no moral agency issues, as he is well-aware of his own actions. This is demonstrated when he wanted to "turn the streets red" of human blood, showcasing his sadistic desire to kill both the New Helghast and Vektans in his acts of terrorism.
Trivia[]
- It was mentioned that Kris Howl, Tyran's foster father, raised him possibly throughout his childhood, where both would become the founders of Black Hand. Though, his relationship with Howl is far too vague and unknown to be a redeeming factor for Pure Evil, as it was unexplored over the course of the game. If that is true for some reason, then Tyran's relationship with Howl is purely just for fanatical pragmatism than a genuine relationship, as Howl is mostly responsible for shaping Tyran's violent and fanatical anti-New Helghast, anti-Vektan beliefs in the present.
- While Sinclair's motivations of conquering Vekta is solely motivated by his not-so-well-intentioned-extremist motivations at best and pure egotism and xenophobia at worst; Tyran's methods of doing so are far more violent and brutal.
