Dr. Viktor Adler is the main antagonist of Power Rangers: Wild Force. He is the arch-nemesis of Cole Evans, the Red Wild Force Ranger.
Formerly a scientist, after feeling betrayed by his best friend Richard Evans who married his crush Elizabeth and overshadowed by Richard's fame, Adler devoured seeds that contained Master Org's essence and gained his powers. He then used his newfound powers to murder Richard and Elizabeth Evans, but was unable to find Cole as he floated away on the river and found by natives.
He was portrayed by Ilia Volok.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He murdered Richard and Elizabeth Evans, Cole's parents because Elizabeth married Richard instead of him and they "stole" his chance at fame. However, this act is a petty one that can't be excused by what Cole's parents did for several reasons:
- Both still cared about him as a close friend and comrade and didn't intentionally shun him at any point. Adler was even the first person, Elizabeth told about her engagement and she hugged him after revealing it, showing how much they cared about him.
- Whilst Viktor once worked to save the Earth, viewed Richard Adler as a close friend and loved Elizabeth, he subverts all these qualities once he felt slighted by their "betrayal".
- He made no effort to show said feelings to Elizabeth and based it on the assumption that she would feel the same, thus she couldn't know he had any romantic feelings toward her, nor would Richard. Furthermore, he never made his bitterness clear to either.
- Both of Cole's parents didn't even really steal his fame. When at a news conference, Richard urges Viktor Adler to take the floor, only for the reporter to state he simply wanted to talk to Richard and Elizabeth instead, which wasn't their fault.
- He didn't bother to explain to them how he felt and assumed the worst.
- The heinous acts he commits afterward are cruel and disproportionate to his slight, especially since Cole, the other Rangers, humanity, nature, and even the Orgs he abuses had nothing to do with what happened in his past. So, for all his claims they deserved to be killed and that he is the one who suffers, in reality, he's a selfish, petty, and cruel man who has nobody to blame for his terrible deeds but himself.
- Attempted to kill a baby Cole simply because he was the son of his parents.
- Re-enacted the Ancient Master Org's plan to destroy nature because it reminded him of his past.
- Attempting to destroy the Soul Bird and her nest, though the deed backfired as Cole's attempt to stop him led to it entrusting with him her egg and awakening the dormant Gorilla Zord nearby.
- Caring little for his subordinates' well-being throughout his tenure as Master Org, more than often seeing them as expendable pawns at best and prefer to work by himself.
- Frequently destroyed sealed Orgs, as revealed by Jindrax in "Homecoming", ended up killing the Org inside.
- He killed Retinax to hide his identity.
- He frequently tortured Jindrax and Toxica and eventually brainwashed them when they found out his secret.
- Attempted to bomb a nuclear power plant to pollute the entire city of Turtle Cove with the help of the Mut-Orgs.
- When confronted by Cole about the murders, he taunts him that he'll enjoy murdering him even more than the suffering of his parents. He also trapped the other Rangers so they can die a slowly painful death that he intends to enjoy more so.
- Rejected any attempts at redemption, even though Cole had forgiven Adler at the end after Master Org's final demise.
- While it appeared Ancient Master Org influenced Viktor Adler ever since he consumed his remains, this neither affected his moral agency nor served as prevention.
- Though Adler's personality was the dominant one during his time as the Master Org imposter, he also subconsciously corrupted the Ancient Master Org himself. By the time Ancient Master Org revived himself through Adler's corpse after the latter's death at hands of Mandilok, Ancient Master Org inherited his resentments toward said Org as well as Toxica and Jindrax.
- He stands out in the high Heinous Standards of Power Rangers since he's only a human who has accessory of ever being granted the Ancient Master Org's abilities whilst doing the full worst he's done and has personal villainy for being the murderer of the parents of a Power Ranger.
Trivia[]
- The Ancient Master Org isn't Pure Evil compared to Adler since he doesn't seem to have the same moral agency that the latter.
- He is the only Pure Evil in Power Rangers to have once been human. Lord Drakkon doesn't count due to being fully human.
- This also makes him the only one in the TV shows themselves to not be a masked monster, but a person with a real face and makeup.
- He is also the final Pure Evil in the original Saban era.
- He's the first Power Rangers Pure Evil without a direct Sentai counterpart. His costume came from Dairanger's Gorma Emperor, but that is it, Gaoranger lacks a true lead villain (the Org Master is just a figurehead statue with nothing similar), and the costume of the final boss: Ultimate Org Senki, was only used as Master Org's final form which didn't come until after the ancient one took over his body.
- Despite all of the things Adler has done that acknowledge him as Pure Evil, Cole visited Adler's grave after Master Org's final defeat and presented some flowers in front of his tombstone, showing that he had forgiven Adler and his corrupted suffering life could finally put to rest.
- But while Cole does forgive him, there is no indication that anybody else does. Not only does nobody else alive mourn him after Master Org's final death (the other Rangers are clearly triumphant), Cole's forgiveness doesn't mean he excuses Adler's actions, nor does it disqualify him of being Pure Evil or justifying his misdeeds.
