Veran is the main antagonist of the 2001 action-adventure video game The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.
She is the Sorceress of Shadows who is a demon fairy and a servant of Ganondorf who seeks to revive him and conquer Hyrule.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Tries to spread misery to make the world "less boring".
- Possessed various people to carry out very nefarious purposes. For example, she possessed Impa to get Link to move the boulder that bars her from getting close to Nayru, then possesses her to go back in time to change history, and then Queen Ambi to resume her reign of terror when the odds were against her.
- In the manga, she wants to find Link’s ancestor (who happens to be Sir Raven), and murder him to ensure that Link ceased to exist, so she possessed Ralph to trick Link into revealing his connection with Raven and learn of the hidden villagers’ plan on rebelling against her, so she can prevent it. She came dangerously close to having Raven slain before Link and the freed Ralph interrupt his execution in time.
- Forces people into slavery by manipulating Queen Ambi into having the civilians build the Black Tower and in addition, created the Endless Day so that its construction doesn’t stop, adding to the people's suffering.
- Due to her tampering with the past, various individuals in the present are either petrified, such as a young boy, or vanish out of existence altogether, such as an entire community of monkeys.
- Shortly after weaseling her way into Queen Ambi's good graces, she sends a couple of Moblins to kill the Maku Tree when she's still just a child, which causes her to temporarily vanish in the present as well before Link saves her and undoes it.
- Cracked the Tuni Nut, the sacred symbol of perfect balance of Symmetry City/Village, causing volcanic eruptions to decimate the settlement, presumably killing the past inhabitants over time and turning the present-day city into ruins.
- She poisoned the ocean, causing the Zora tribe to start to die out.
- She cursed the Fairy Queen by transforming her into an Octorok, preventing her from cleansing the poisoned ocean.
- She killed the King of Zora.
- After Link saves Nayru from her possession, she possesses Queen Ambi instead and rules like a tyrant through her, continuing ordering the hard labor of most of the men in the village to get the Black Tower completed.
- After the Black Tower is complete, she utilizes the power of darkness from the top of it, which petrifies at least a few innocent people and creatures.
- Attempts to revive Ganondorf through creating misery to light the Flame of Sorrow out of sadistic admiration for him rather than loyalty.
- After Link frees Queen Ambi from Veran's control, Veran attempts to possess Link.
- Though both Demise and Yuga are more heinous than her, they have more resources.
