Vanica Zogratis is a major antagonist in the Black Clover franchise. She is one of the main antagonists of the second saga, being one of the two secondary antagonists of the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle Arc and a major antagonist of the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc.
She is a member of the Dark Triad, serving as the host of Megicula, and is the young sister of Lucius and Dante Zogratis, and older sister of Zenon Zogratis. Vanica rules over the Spade Kingdom alongside her brothers and seeks to expand their forces, conquering the other kingdoms. She is one of the arch-enemies (alongside Megicula) of House Silva, mainly towards Noelle and Nozel Silva.
She is voiced by Yui Ogura in Japanese and Lindsay Seidel in English.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- Generally, she has a bloodthirsty craving for battling stronger opponents and takes sadistic pleasure in fighting them, especially through violent tactics and strategies.
- Her partnership with Megicula comes off as mutual over their sadism than genuine, even while working with one another, she would often express annoyance at Megicula's mishaps and interferences.
- Her relationship with her siblings, Lucius and Dante, is too vague to know whether or not they cared about each other, however, she and Dante have proven to have a mutual disdain for Zenon, calling him "weak" and making fun of him back when they were younger. Even in the present, nothing suggests their behavior towards him has changed, which is doubtfully likely.
- While she claims to want to become "friends and rivals" with Noelle after beating her, it never ounces to genuine respect. As pointed out by Noelle, her words came off as an arbitrary whim rather than having any logical reason to do so, and even if it were true, this is more of Vanica wanting to continue fighting her than being legit friends.
Past[]
- She, alongside Zenon, helped assist their brother Dante in killing the king, Loyce Grinberryall, during the coup and raid of the Spade Kingdom, thus she and her siblings took over the kingdom and likely partook in ruling it with an iron fist.
- She and her siblings made a deal with Lucifero and his associates, one of them being Megicula, allowing them to possess her and her siblings respectively with Megicula being her host to be granted their abilities. In order to test out her newly-found powers, she personally attacked the Clover Kingdom to fight one of the strongest opponents there.
- During her fight with Acier Silva, she threatened to kill her children, Nozel and Noelle (the former was a child and the latter a baby back then), just for "wearing their mother off" in battle.
- This ultimately led to Megicula cursing Acier once she went all out on Vanica and indirectly caused her death, it would also make Vanica indirectly responsible for Noelle having to grow up being bullied and looked down upon by her siblings.
- While it seems to be unintentional since Vanica didn't expect Megicula to act up and curse Acier, she doesn't show any remorse at all and this was acknowledged by Noelle for her involvement.
Black Clover[]
- She was one of the few that helped with the ritual sacrifice, a magic channel, as a means to unleash Lucifero and countless devils onto the world to kickstart the annihilation of all kingdoms, which is 90% of the continent. Vanica's reason was to sadistically fight those who would survive the upcoming event afterward for her own bloodlust and to do that, she needed to sacrifice two very important people, Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeanace.
- She infiltrated and attack the Heart Kingdom for no other reason than her usual sadism, which she later had Megicula curse Lolopechka spitefully after defeating the Spirit Guardians, leaving her to die several months ahead.
- She razed the Heart Kingdom for a second time along with her Dark Disciples out of spite, presumably to have killed dozens of innocent people.
- She proceeds to taunt Lolopechka upon entering her domain and sadistically fights Noelle, not before revealing her reasons to unleash all devils out from the Tree of Qliphoth sadistically.
- She had Megicula use Decaying World to deflect Secre's spell on them, which ended up critically injuring the latter, including Noelle and Lolopechka, as well as cursing Undyne. After that, she decided to hold Lolopechka hostage just to provoke Noelle into becoming "stronger".
- Before leaving, she used Exploding Blood to horrifically kill her Dark Disciples, having them burst to cause deadly explosions so wide it is unlikely anyone near such a distance would survive it. She does upon having no use for them anymore.
- During the Tree of Qliphoth's gates opening, she had two brainwashed Dark Disciples to take on Charlotte Roselei and Rill Boimeister. However, she never seem impressed and openly stated how she would've made Asta and Yami her "toys" while taunting Charlotte about sacrificing the latter.
- Mind-controlled Lolopechka into fighting Charlotte and Rill, which she took advantage of it by impaling Charlotte with her spikes. Vanica would've succeeded in killing Charlotte had Noelle and Gadjah not intervened.
- Continuously taunted Noelle throughout the battle, even saying how she made Lolopechka "stronger" by brainwashing her and trying to kill her during the final battle before she was defeated.
- Her final moments of having her body decayed by Megicula and later dying in the process are not played for sympathy given her heinous actions.
Trivia[]
- She, alongside her brother Dante Zogratis, are the only two out of the Dark Triad to be Pure Evil.
