What's the work?[]
Kung Fu Panda's Greates Villain is a fanmade video created by VibingLeaf with an Analog Horror-like style
Who is he?[]
Lord Shen is the main antagonist of the video, he is Po's former enemy who killed all the pandas and now after death haunts his dreams as a spirit
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He attacked the Panda Village in order to murder every single one so that no one could ever defeat him, leaving an orphaned Po as the sole survivor of the accident which would haunt him for years. Also unlike in canon, it's never revealed wether or nor Li Shan and other pandas actually survived
- Just like his canon counterpart, he tried to take over all of china with his Dragon Breath Weapons, taking over Gongmen City, murdering Thundering Rhino, and trying to kill Po and his allies when they tried to stop him
- After being defeated by Po he questioned how he could ever achieve Inner Peace, refuting with how much he had hurt him by taking away his parents and species
- He ultimately died trying to kill Po instead of changing for the better
- After his demise, his actions continued to haunt Po as Shen would appear in his dreams
- Whether this is the real Shen's spirit continuing to sadistically torment Po in his dreams or just a subconscious nightmare created by Po regarding his past traumas, it leads back to Shen anyways as he's the one who caused all the psychological damage to Po and would leave a phantom of himself to mentally torture him in his sleep
- He appeared to Po in a dream mocking the idea of his peace and stating that even if his scars have healed, he'll still continue to try to ruin Po's life after his death and disturb his newfound peace
- Noticing Po's sadness as he realizes he's not free of Shen's influence over him, he tells him that he'll "cheer him up" and then proceeds to let out a bloodcurling scream which is implied to have hurt Po even in his dreams as an image of him in pain and bloodied is shown afterwards
- He taunts Po by telling him that he's waking up, but promises to wait for the next time he falls asleep, revealing his intention to always live in his mind and make sure he suffers every time he dreams
- He never once interacts with the Soothsayer, nor is she or Shen's thoughts on her mentioned, therefore this version lacks his canon counterpart's care for her
- Since the video never adapts the events of Kung Fu Panda 4, Shen lacks his show of honor to Po after he defeats the Chameleon. Furthermore this version doesn't have any respect for Po and is fully willing to kill him and upon failing and dying, will torture him forever in his dreams
Heinous Standard[]
Shen is the only villain present in the video and his acts of killing off all the pandas and torturing Po from within his mind are certainly enough for him to stand out on his own. Aside from that, Kai and The Chameleon never have encountered Po and even if Tai Lung were to be mentioned (which he isn't), Shen still stands out for his personal villainy towards Po and his unique crime of continuing to haunt him even after his own demise
Mitigating Factors[]
None. As I discussed earlier he doesn't care for the Soothsayer and it's never even confirmed if he still let her go in this universe. His honor from the fourth film is also non-existent and his "tragedy" of being cast out by his parents is never mentioned, shown or even implied.
Final Verdict[]
I think he gets a Yes
