What is the work?[]

The Nova Fides Saga is a series of stories written by Redstoneprime. There are currently two stories in the series: Fear the Night (https://archiveofourown.org/works/52719145), and Blood Moon (https://archiveofourown.org/works/54400126). They focus on a conservationist named Jonathan Franklin as he and his best friend Frederick Smith (a detective) investigate a series of murders that have taken place in Nova Fides. However, they learn that more sinister forces are at work, and must do what they can to save the kingdom and its residents.

Who is he?[]

Victor Black is a dark sorcerer and scientist who is responsible for the deaths of many people and animals in Nova Fides. He plans on taking over the kingdom, using it as his own personal playhouse to do with as he pleases. In reality, he is actually a powerful dragon known as Darkfear, one responsible for destroying the original kingdom of Nova Fides before it was rebuilt, and plans on destroying it a second time.

What makes him pure evil?[]

  • Destroys the original kingdom of Nova Fides, killing nearly all the citizens in the process
  • Manipulates several people into helping him achieve his goals
  • Manipulates Theodore Jäger into wiping out the werebeasts by using Theodore's own hatred of them to his advantage
  • Impersonates Jonathan's Father, Morgan, and poses as the president of the city
  • After breaking free of his prison, he begins wreaking havoc on the new kingdom of Nova Fides
  • Captures a young chupacabra and conducts cruel experiments on it, turning it into the notorious outlaw Bethany Carter
  • Creates a false illusion of an injured Bethany Carter in order to make Jonathan think she's dead
  • Creates another false illusion of Bethany to lure Jonathan into a trap
  • Is responsible for the spread of lycanthropy, as he is the one who made it in the first place
  • Fakes several chupacabra attack (but not all) in order to villainize Bethany.
  • Is responsible for wiping out all but one of the chupacabras
  • Curses several people, including the palace guards, into aging rapidally to death
  • Transforms several innocent people into walking corpses
  • Revives Patrick Jäger to use him as a puppet, and kills him again when he starts betraying him
  • Kills Simon Jones by making him age rapidally
  • Tries to eat Bethany Carter, but ends up devouring Catherine Jäger instead (although he doesn't care)
  • Fakes his won death in order to give the citizens of Nova Fides a sense of hope
  • After revealing himself to still be alive, he kills a man by burning him to ash
  • Kills several people in the new kingdom of Nova Fides
  • Taunts Bethany so that she'll transform into her chupacabra form and start attacking everyone around her
  • Forcibly transforms Jonathan into a dragon at the palace, hoping he'll kill everyone there
  • Tries to kill Bethany on top of one of the rooftops of the city

Mitigating Factors:[]

None. Victor is a complete psycopath who only cares about himself and getting what he wants. He views the citizens of Nova Fides as mere toys, and is willing to conduct cruel experiments on people in order to create living weapons. He also kills people just for the fun of it, or if they get in the way of his goals. Another thing that makes he full-on evil is the fact he wants to wipe out several species simply for the fact they exist.

Heinous Standard:[]

The heinous standard of the series is fairly high, due to the dark nature of the series and the events that occur. Victor black crosses it due to all the horrible things he has done to the people and animals in the kingdom. Theodore Jager does cross it slightly, as he tries to kill off all the werebeasts, although he has a somewhat tragic motive for his own hatred of them. Bethany Carter doesn't cross it as, despite being an outlaw responsible for the deaths of many people and animals, she has a tragic backstory and ultimately redeems herself. Meanwhile, Simon Jones, despite initially working for Theodore, is a well-intentioned extremist who simply wants to make the world safer and also redeems himself when he realizes he was wrong.

Verdict:[]

I think he qualifies, as he conducts horrific experiments on people, treats like toys that can be disposed, and also tries to wipe out all life in Nova Fides.
