What's the work?[]
David Hayter's Iron Man script is an early draft of what would become the 2008 film Iron Man. This proposal will solely focus on the David Hayter script, so that's where we'll go.
Who is he? What has he done?[]
Howard Stark is the main antagonist of the unpublished script for Iron Man.
- Stole designs from Tony from behind his back to weaponize them.
- Implanted a chip in Tony's neck.
- Allowed the weaponized technology to get many American soldiers killed, showing no remorse for it.
- Although saying he cares about Tony, it's only for sheer pragmatism.
- Feigns remorse for shooting Tony out a window, which would have killed him.
- Lied to Jessica Cahill about Tony being kidnapped.
- Although he did have a search set up for Tony, it was out of pragmatism.
- Used his loot to implant on his own War Machine armor.
- Although he claims to want to arm the country, he does it with his son's designs he stole earlier.
- Conspired with his subordinates to kill the President.
- Attempted to kill Tony with a missile as part of his last trick.
Mitigating factors/Freudian Excuse??[]
While Howard was in grief over the death of his wife Maria, it isn't played for sympathy, and doesn't justify his actions.
Heinous standard?[]
Compared to Justin Hammer, Howard had gained resources through weapon trafficking.
Final verdict?[]
I would like to say Yes. This is all because of Howard's misdeeds that make me think that he qualifies.
