~ Trigon after conquering Earth. |
Trigon is the overarching antagonist of the 2003 animated series Teen Titans.
He is an inter-dimensional demon who embodies all evil, as well as holding immense power at the palm of his hand, and the abusive father of Raven, a member of the Teen Titans. His goal was to take over the universe after destroying the Earth. He even recruits the Teen Titans' arch-nemesis Slade in order to assist him in achieving his goals. With his immense power, he is easily the biggest threat the Titans have ever came across.
He was voiced by Keith Szarabajka in "Nevermore" and later by Kevin Michael Richardson for the rest of the series, who also voiced Chairman Drek in Ratchet & Clank, the Imperium in Justice League, the Joker in The Batman, General Aguila in TMNT and the Shadow King in Wolverine and the X-Men.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Despite being a demon, he possessed full moral agency over his actions, and it was shown that he relished the pain he caused.
- He psychologically abused Raven and convinces her multiple times that her only purpose is to be a portal for him to arrive on Earth and take over the world. Eventually, his psychological abuse succeeded, and Raven caved in to what Trigon wanted.
- He does not care about his wife or daughter and uses them just so he can rule. He killed his wife, Arella, and abused his daughter, Raven, to destroy Raven's seal.
- He destroyed Azarath, Raven's homeworld, leaving the entire world in ruins.
- He presumably conquered or destroyed multiple worlds in the past. Because of the amount of mass destruction and deaths, he easily has the highest kill count out of any villain in the series.
- It is implied that he was responsible for deterring Robin with hallucinations of Slade, due to the fact that the eyes on Slade's mask glowed red.
- He uses Raven as a portal to arrive on Earth and destroy it. As a result of using his daughter as a portal, Raven was stripped of her powers and memories and was reduced to a frightened child.
- He resurrects Slade from the dead to have him go after Raven and have her submit to Trigon's will. He then betrays him once he feels he is not needed for no real reason, which makes him end up helping the Titans.
- He destroyed Earth immediately after appearing in the world by turning humans to stone and transforming the entire world into a volcanic wasteland.
- He takes the negative sides of the Titans and creates evil clones of them. He used these clones to fight, psychologically abuse, and torture the Titans to his own amusement, believing that they have no hope of defeating him.
- He sends his minions into space with the intent of having them terrorize and invade other worlds so that he can eventually take over the universe.
- He attempted to kill Raven after getting fed up with the fact that she stood up to him.
- When he gets banished, no one felt an ounce of sympathy towards him and are relieved that he is finally vanquished after all the evil and destruction he has caused.
Trivia[]
- Trigon is, alongside Slade, Professor Chang, and the Brain, one of the four Teen Titans villains to be Pure Evil.
- Though non-canon, due to this incarnation appearing in Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans, he is the only villain in Teen Titans Go! to be Pure Evil.
