Top Dollar is a major antagonist in James O'Barr's graphic novel The Crow and the main antagonist in the 1994 film adaptation.
In his characterisation, he is a ruthless crime lord who is responsible for the murders of both Eric Draven and his girlfriend Shelly Webster respectively.
In the film, he was portrayed by Michael Wincott, who also played Armand Dorleac in The Count of Monte Cristo and voiced Scroop in Treasure Planet and the Prophet of Truth in Halo 2.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He runs a criminal empire founded on murder, robbery, prostitution, and arson.
- He takes sadistic pleasure in setting fires and other random acts of destruction on Devil's Night.
- He has an incestuous relationship with his half-sister, Myca.
- He orders Eric Draven and Shelly Webster murdered on the eve of their wedding because Shelley was fighting tenant eviction in a neighborhood he controlled, with him also being responsible for the rape and torture his men subjected her to.
- He is also responsible for Sarah, a young girl that Eric and Shelley informally adopted, being effectively orphaned and put out on the street.
- He and Myca torture and murder (and presumably rape) a prostitute for fun, even burning one of the woman's eyeballs.
- He runs a sword through Gideon's throat and shoots him dead.
- He exhorts his fellow crime lords to cause as much chaos and destruction on Devil's Night as they can so they will once again be feared.
- He tells his men to shoot Eric when he interrupts their meeting.
- He plans to have the crow destroyed in order to destroy Eric or take it himself so he can be immortal.
- He kidnaps and threatens to kill Sarah.
- He shoots and wounds Eric, who is now mortal.
- He shoots and wounds Eric's ally, Officer Albrecht.
- He runs Eric through with a sword.
- He gloats to Eric that he ordered his and Shelly's murder.
