Curien, Goldman, it's time for humans to decide: Extinction or evolution?
~ Thornheart in the intro to House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn.
Goldman took evolution to be biological adaptability, but I consider it to be truly about the human mind. Arrogance, greed, envy, rage, lust, veracity, laziness... All great expressions. We need to get rid of the dead wound. It's time to carry out Noah's Ark! Let's start a new evolution!
~ Thornheart

Thornheart is the overarching antagonist of the House of the Dead series. He first appeared in the endings of House of the Dead III and 4, where he did not revealed his name (and was mostly referred to as Mystery Man). It is until he revealed his name in Scarlet Dawn and is the main antagonist of the said installment. He is a businessman and a successor of Goldman and works in a partnership with Dr. Curien and Goldman in DBR Corporation.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • In 2003, he entered into presumably his office and expressing to his late business partner: "Goldman, you are soft. These wretched humans have no need of hope. Soon, the true end shall begin. ...There is more than one Pandora's Box." Heavily implying he is behind the second Pandora's Box incident, when The Magician attempted to open the second Pandora's Box to unleashed his clone armies into exterminating all of humanity.
  • In 2006, he planned to start his new project called "Noah's Ark" by exterminating all of humanity and begin a new evolution.
  • During the Scarlet Manor incident, he invited hundreds of innocent people to his dinner party in his mansion, only to unleashed his hordes of zombie creatures to slaughter most, if not all of them.
  • In the meantime, he created High Priestess, a mutated octopus, and revived Chariot and Hangedman back from the Curien Mansion incident and used them to cause chaos around the Scarlet Manor.
  • Upon being confronted by the AMS agents, Kate Green and Ryan Taylor, he unleashed Moon, a god-like zombie creature, and attempted to use it to eradicate all mankind while he makes an escape. Luckily, Ryan is able to kill the creature by impaling it with a metal bar before it can do such thing.
  • It is likely that Thornheart is responsible for humanity's near extinction, giving the evidence that The House of the Dead 3 has taken place in post-apocalyptic setting in 2019 and Thornheart still on the loose.
  • Unlike his colleagues, Dr. Roy Curien and Caleb Goldman (the former's genuine care for his ill-son Daniel and latter being a Well-Intended Extremist), Thornheart has no Freudian Excuses for his actions, as he considers humans to be the lost cause and they need to pay for their sins. He was even lampshaded by Ryan that he is "using selective words" as excuses for his crimes.

Trivia[]

  • So far, he is the only The House of the Dead villain to be Pure Evil.
