Doug Talpid, better known as The Underminer, is a minor antagonist in The Incredibles, the titular main antagonist of its spinoff sequel The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer, and a major antagonist in The Incredibles comic books by Boom! Studios.
He was voiced by John Ratzenberger.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- This version stands out since he doesn't need to compete with Screenslaver, unlike his film version.
- Also unlike his film version, this version attempted to destroy the sun, which would have resulted in the extermination of all life on Earth.
- He kidnapped non human scientists to create him more Gilgenbots, essentially enslaving them.
- While he has a good portion of hammy lines, they don't detract from his villainy since he tried to wipe out all surface life, which that said goal is played completely dead seriously.
- While he has a horrific death of being shot by Xerek, it isn't played sympathetically since he wanted to destroy all life on the planet and destroy the sun.
Trivia[]
- His film version cannot qualify due to being retconned to a mere bank robber who is not confirmed to have killed anyone in Municiberg while raiding the city and his war against peace and happiness is not explored in enough detail. At one point before The Incredibles 2, both versions were placed to be as just one version, but because of the film sequel undoing the events of the game, it no longer was.
