The SOUL, also known as The Player or Kris, is the villainous protagonist of JQR's adaption of the Salt Route fan concept.
Much like their original counterpart, they recruit Spamton as part of their party after collecting five Salt Stains. They then force Spamton to kill dozens of people throughout the Cyber World, manipulating him constantly. Unlike their original counterpart, this version of the SOUL has a bit more characterization, shown to be more arrogant and wrathful than their original counterpart.
What Makes Them Pure Evil?[]
- They committed the same crimes of their counterpart from the original Salt Route concept, meaning they manipulated Spamton into killing various Darkners (including the blue Addison).
- When Kris manages to remove them from their body, the SOUL repossesses them.
- They have Spamton murder Rouxle Card, who wasn't mentioned in the original Salt Route concept.
- Their murder of Queen is less ambiguous in this version.
- They are even worse than their original counterpart since at some point they brutally beat Spamton up when he tries to back out of the deal and shows sadism by faking a friendly hug with Spamton during the swan ride photo and by beating Darkners even before start of Route.
- This also means they have a clearer personality compared to their original counterpart.
