Fear Ye, The Ripper!
~ The Riverton Ripper

The Riverton Ripper (sometimes called "The Ripper" for short) is a mass murderer that plagued the town of Riverton, Massachusetts, and he is the main antagonist of the 2010 supernatural-thriller film My Soul to Take.

He was portrayed by Christopher Place. Abel Plenkov is portrayed by Raúl Esparza, and Alex Dunkelman is portrayed by John Magaro.

What Makes him Pure Evil?[]

  • As a split personality of Abel Plenkov, he committed a series of gruesome murders in Riverton, terrorizing the town and establishing his reputation as a serial killer.
  • When Abel discovered his murderous split personality and tried to tell his psychiatrist, the Ripper threatened to kill Abel's wife, Sarah, who was pregnant, and his daughter, Leah, if he revealed his existence, demonstrating his ruthlessness and willingness to attack family.
    • This would've killed Bug who was born moments after his mother died.
  • Despite the threat, Abel, consumed by guilt, contacted the authorities. The Ripper made good on his threat and murdered Sarah before Abel could stop him.
  • He then attempted to murder Leah, showing his utter disregard for innocent life, even that of a child.
  • When Dr. Blake and Detective Frank Patterson arrived, the Ripper shot Dr. Blake point-blank in the head, killing him instantly and then wounded Frank although he survived.
  • He then attempted to murder Jeanne-Baptiste by slashing her neck in the ambulance causing the ambulance to crash, further showcasing his violent nature.
  • Sixteen years later, he resurfaced, having possessed Alex. He began a new killing spree, targeting the Riverton Seven, teenagers born the day Abel supposedly died.
  • While possessing Alex, he murdered Alex's abusive father offscreen, although this act could be interpreted as a twisted form of "protection" for Alex, it ultimately served the Ripper's own violent agenda.
  • Murdered Jay Chan by fatally stabbing him in a bridge and throwing his body into the river.
  • He murdered Penelope Bryte at her school by slashing her throat near the pool.
  • In the woods, he murdered Brandon O'Neil by stabbing him in the gut, despite that he was a bully to Bug then he killed Brittany Cunningham in the woods by lifting her up and slitting her throat.
  • At Bug's home, he murdered May, Bug's adoptive mother and aunt making it look like Bug killed him.
  • Murdered Detective Frank Patterson, who was investigating the new string of murders.
  • He attempted to murder Bug and his sister.
  • Fatally wounded Jerome, one of the Riverton Seven and Bug's friend, who had come to Bug's house.
  • Offered Bug a twisted deal: frame Jerome for the murders and let them both be hailed as heroes, or he would murder both Bug and Leah.
