“ | Today, I can announce that the so-called western forces of Texas and California have suffered a very great loss. A very great defeat at the hands of the fighting men and women of the United States military. The people of Texas and California should know that they will be welcomed back to these United States as soon as their illegal secessionist government is deposed. I can also confirm that the Florida Alliance has failed in its attempt to force the brave people of the Carolinas into joining their insurrection. Citizens of America, we are now closer than ever to a historic victory, as we eliminate the final pockets of resistance. God bless you all and God bless America. | „ |
~ The President's announcement in the beginning of the movie. |
The President is the main antagonist of the 2024 dystopian war film Civil War.
In his characterization, he was the President of the United States during the Second American Civil War. Although it is unclear how the war started, it is strongly implied that the president's overreach of power, including completely disbanding the FBI, seemingly abolishing the 22nd amendment allowing him to serve a third term, and firing upon his own citizens to quell any successionist movements have contributed to the breakdown of the American Union. The most powerful group in the conflict, the "Western Forces", consisting of the successionist states of Texas and California, form their own paramilitary force to fight back. Because of this, he is directly responsible for the massive casualties and loss of life as many innocent civilians are caught in the crossfire as he sought to eliminate the Western Forces.
He was portrayed by Nick Offerman.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Slowly through his presidency, he disbanded the FBI, making it so that people were less safe in serious scenarios, and he was able to take over the country.
- He got rid of parts of the constitution, with one of them being the 22nd Amendment “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice."
- Low screen time aside, he’s given enough details in his broadcasts, and his cowardly nature is displayed in the movie is enough to not be insufficiently characterized.
- He's a major coward as when the war started, he hid behind his broadcast, never taking responsibility for his actions, as well as endangering his soldiers and begging for his life.
- He is easily the most heinous character in the movie, while the soldier manages to pass the standard due to having small resources and killing dozens (including trying to kill a child) the president is the one who allowed him to do that as he started the war.
