The Leader of the Chritchellites is the main antagonist of the episode "Jack, the Woolies, and the Chritchellites" of the first season of the Cartoon Network show Samurai Jack. He is a cruel alien who, with the help of his species, had enslaved the Woolies after conquering their lands and proceeded to abuse them in horrid manners, forcing them to do labor, actively tazing them, and forcing them into gladiator fights with each other, with it being made clear they've done this for decades. When Jack arrives and helps them recapture a Wooly that tried to escape, the Leader invites him into the town they conquered while fabricating the context behind the Woolies' scenario before Jack finds out the truth and tries to help them escape.
He, like his species, is voiced by Tom Kenny.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He leads an attack with the Chritchellites on the Woolies, a sapient species, and engages in a war against them that they win using the power of their crystal and holding them captive.
- Having enslaved the Woolies, he and the Chritchellites would actively torment them, forcing them to do labor, tazing them, and forcing them into gladiator fights while abusing their lands. It's made clear they've done this for decades.
- What makes the slavery even worse is that the elder leader of the Woolies implies that his species may go extinct if the leader and his Chritchellites were to continue their abuse, stating that he fears his people will fade from history if they're not stopped.
- When a Wooly tries to escape, the leader leads a pursuit of him and upon capturing him, tazes him repeatedly for trying to escape before taking him back.
- While he and the Chritchellites seem to act affably towards Jack at first, inviting him into their town as a way of repaying him for helping them recapture a Wooly, it's likely only because they think he will agree with their treatment towards them and this is while he is fabricating the whole background behind the Woolies and hiding the fact that they're a sapient species. They also throw this out the window when Jack frees one of the Woolies, implicitly trying to kill him as they fight.
- While he and the Chritchellites do sound funny, the episode doesn't poke fun at them for this nor really portray them in a comical manner and their enslavement of the Woolies is taken seriously, their treatment being portrayed in a way meant to evoke sympathy for the Woolies due to how horrid it is and Jack trying to rescue them upon discovering the truth.
- Despite Samurai Jack's heinous standard, the Leader stands out for his slavery of the Woolies and the implications that it could lead to their extinction, having a larger scope in his heinous crimes than other villains in the series, including the Dominator and the High Priestess whose scopes are limited to a village and a cult respectively in contrast to the Leader's being towards a whole species.
- While Aku himself had enslaved humanity and subjected them to horrid abuse and labor on top of going on to spread this to other species across the galaxy on top of other heinous deeds, the Leader has less resources due to Aku being a supremely powerful entity.
