The Great Intelligence is a recurring antagonist in both the classic and revival series of Doctor Who, serving as the main antagonist of the classic era episodes "The Abominable Snowmen" and "The Web of Fear" and the new series episodes "The Snowmen", "The Bells of St. John" and "The Name of the Doctor".

It is a formless cosmic entity of massive power and intellect which seeks to gain physical form for itself by any means necessary, allowing it to consume the Earth. After being thwarted by the Doctor several times, it lures him to Trenzalore to destroy him and undo all his life's works as revenge.

What Makes It Pure Evil?[]

  • After coming into existence in 1842, it develops plans to consume the Earth and spends fifty years manipulating Walter Simeon to help it gain enough power to consume the Earth with the help of ice soldiers.
  • After assembling enough psychic space crystals to reach its goal, it uses its powers to animate demonic snowmen and feeds its workers to them.
  • It takes advantage of Simeon's mind being emptied out by a memory worm to possess his body while gloating that it now pulls the strings.
  • After its first defeat, it possesses a Tibetan monk named Padmasambhava and uses him as a puppet to summon itself to Earth to consume the planet, keeping him alive and aware of what he's being used for for 300 years while he ages exponentially and begs for death.
  • As part of its plan in Tibet, it forces Padmasambhava to build Robot Yeti that kill or drive off anyone who gets too near the monastery where it is to be summoned.
  • After being summoned in London in 1975, it manifests as a web-like substance that spreads through London with help from an army of Robot Yeti. Between them, the Web and the yeti manage to wipe out a significant portion of London and threatens to consume all of England until the Intelligence eventually possesses the corpse of Staff Sergeant Albert Arnold.
  • Upon capturing the Second Doctor, it plans to drain his mind in order to obtain his expansive knowledge and experience, which would have left him with the mind of a toddler.
  • It brainwashes Rosemary Kizlet to grow up to be its servant.
  • It influences Kizlet to form a WiFi company that uses "Spoonhead" robots to upload people's consciousnesses to the Internet for the Intelligence to feed on their neural energy, a fate worse than death.
  • In order to further this scheme, it uses Kizlet's tablet to take control of people's minds and edit their emotions, keeping them as brainwashed servants.
  • When UNIT shut down Kizlet's operation, it erases all its servants memories after they came under its influence, reducing Kizlet's mental age to that of a ten-year-old girl.
  • It uses the Whisper Men to kidnap the Paternoster Gang in order to lure the Doctor to his tomb on Trenzalore.
  • Once the Doctor is forced to enter his tomb, the Intelligence uses the ensuing tear in space-time to enter his timestream in an attempt to undo all his victories as revenge for being defeated, not caring that this would result in trillions of deaths and ultimately destroy the universe. It also plans to destroy all his friendships at the same time just to torture him as he dies.
