~ The Fallen's most famous quote. |
Megatronus Prime, better known as The Fallen, is the overarching antagonist of the 2007 science fiction action film Transformers and the titular main antagonist of its 2009 sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Originally one of the original Primes, The Fallen betrayed his brothers and co-founded the Decepticons alongside Quintessa, and became the master of Megatron, seeking to rule the universe and wipe out both the Autobots and the human race.
He was voiced by the late Tony Todd, who also played Captain Darrow in The Rock, Benjamin Juma in the 24 franchise, Zoom in The Flash TV series, Darkseid in the DC Animated Movie Universe, and William in Tales from the Hood 3.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- He co-founded the Decepticons with Quintessa and served as one of it's two true heads for a significant amount of time, making him responsible for nearly every single Decepticon atrocity in the original continuity of the film series (all versions).
- Mostly sits in his throne room expecting Megatron and the other Decepticons to do his terrible deeds for him (film).
- He despised humanity and wanted to wipe out all life on Earth by using the Star Harvester to destroy the Sun and the Earth in the process, disobeying the Prime code to never kill a planet with life solely so he can enjoy crushing humanity (all versions).
- According to Jetfire, The Fallen is traitorous as he is too terrible to work for as he only cares about himself alone revealing how heinous he is at the end of the line (all versions).
- Claimed that he was betrayed by his brothers, the other Primes. But this wasn't the case when The Fallen was lying since he was the one who betrayed them by trying to defy their rule to spare any planet containing life. Therefore, this subverts any excuse he had for his actions and makes him a hypocrite.
- During his final fight with Optimus Prime, he told him to die like his brothers (which is incorrect as they were actually Optimus' ancestors, not brothers), only for Optimus to tell him that they were his brothers too, proving that he didn't actually care for his fellow Primes.
- After succeeding in destroying the Earth, he would then unleash the Decepticons across the universe, using the Star Harvester as his signature weapon in doing so he would threaten the lives of countless planets (all versions).
Background[]
- Upon becoming The Fallen, he extinguished every single life form of the planets he visited with his own hands and absorbed them so he could become powerful enough to face off against his fellow Primes and kill them all. He was able to all but one, who managed to trap him (comic).
- He's been hunting down and murdering every descendant of the Primes to make sure that no one could stop him in the future, with the only remaining being Optimus himself, due to him being hidden before The Fallen was trapped (novel/comic).
- After leaving the Earth, he abandoned all the Seekers, including Jetfire, one of his loyal servants, on the planet to die (all versions).
- Because of this, all the Seekers would fight against each other to the death, with one such battle resulting in the deaths of Carter Newell's parents and said boy being left crippled, making him hate all Cybertronians and found the Initiative with the intention of extinguishing them out of revenge, thus making him indirectly responsible for the Initiative coming to exist in the first place (comic).
- He corrupted Megatron and ordered him to start a genocidal war against the Ejoornians, an alien race who invaded Cybertron once in an attempt to steal the AllSpark, with Megatron being able to kill them all as they were never heard from again, though they definitely deserved it for their power lust (comic).
- He turned Megatron into the Decepticons' commander, thus making him responsible for the Great War (all versions).
- In turn, the deaths and destruction caused by it eventually led Sentinel Prime, Optimus' predecessor, to join forces with Megatron to rebuild Cybertron on Earth, corrupting him into teaming up with the Decepticons (all version).
- And because of that, he's also for humanity's relationship with Cybertronians being strained after the Battle of Chicago later on.
- In turn, the deaths and destruction caused by it eventually led Sentinel Prime, Optimus' predecessor, to join forces with Megatron to rebuild Cybertron on Earth, corrupting him into teaming up with the Decepticons (all version).
- While it's revealed that he actually co-founded the Decepticons with Quintessa, it's unknown if he ever let her have the other half of the Decepticon leadership, because given his treacherous nature, he might've instead usurped the other half from her, orchestrated her long exile, and claimed full leadership of the Decepticons, all out of petty envy of her powers
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen[]
- Despite saying that using the Star Harvester was to save their race after the AllSpark's destruction, this was around the time he was manipulating Megatron for his own ends, which is to finally satisfy his simple hatred of humanity by wiping them all out and then proceed to conquer the universe (all versions).
- He ordered Megatron to get rid of Optimus Prime so there would be no one who is a threat to him (in the film, Megatron kills Optimus, while in both the novelization and comic book adaptation, Optimus survives, but is knocked into stasis lock, the Cybertronian equivalent to a human coma).
- Upon sensing Optimus's death (film)/stasis lock (novel/comic), he announces the news in a jubilant fashion, clearly relishing that nothing can defeat him.
- After Optimus Prime's death (film)/stasis lock (novel/comic), he traveled to Earth alongside the Decepticons (film)/ordered the Decepticons to travel there (novel/comic) and cause destruction and a massive death toll.
- Threatened humanity to find Sam Witwicky or he would destroy their cities (in the novelization and comic book adaptation, he orders Megatron to do so due to him being trapped).
- What makes this even worse is that the Earth would be destroyed regardless because of his goals.
- The ultimatum also exposed the existence of Cybertronians on Earth, causing them to question if they want them to live on Earth.
- Stole the Matrix of Leadership (which was now acting as a new vessel for the AllSpark) from the revived (film)/repaired Optimus Prime (novel/comic) to activate the Star Harvester.
- Also, if one looks closely, he decapitates a NEST soldier with the Void Scepter before stealing it (film).
- In the novelization, comic book, and game adaptation, it's revealed he lied about making Megatron a Prime, and when Optimus exposes the truth, Megatron abandons him to die, while he cowardly tries to escape through a Space Bridge and begs Megatron to help him.
Trivia[]
- The part about The Fallen lying to Megatron about making him a Prime was intended to be in the film itself (which is why it was kept in both the novelization, comic book, and book adaptation), but was cut for the latter's introduction in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Had it been featured, it would've made his film version even worse.
- This is, alongside his Generation One and Aligned incarnations, of three incarnations of The Fallen to be Pure Evil.
