“ | All things truly wicked start from innocence. | „ |
~ A quote from Ernest Hemingway, used to describe Virginia's transformation. |
Virginia Fate Arnoldson, better known as The Debate Demon, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside The Monument Monster) of The MONUMENT MYTHOS: Modern Day.
Once just an innocent girl who accidentally orphaned herself, Virginia's curiosity led to her discovering the remains of a long-gone universe, now only known as the Cornerworlds. Virginia's stay in the Wonderland changed her, both mentally and physically, to the point her mere presence was uncanny to the other kids in the orphanage. This piqued the interest of an anomalous being seeking to become a god, Alcatraz.
The Horned Serpent twisted Virginia into becoming one of Alcatraz's servants, a Demon that appeared in the minds of the Republican Party in order to cause chaos and misery, all for the ultimate goal of causing a nuclear holocaust to turn Alcatraz into a god.
As Virginia, she is voiced by Jane Lowry.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
General[]
- While she had a genuinely tragic backstory (initially feeling guilt for accidentally killing her parents before getting bullied), she quickly got over their their deaths through the influence of the Cornerworlds. Instead, she became an indifferent person who was only interested in building small houses in the corners to talk to the Cornerfolk.
- Her backstory may not even be her actual backstory, considering Debate Demon is just a creation of Alcatraz. It is entirely possible that, like Richard Nixon, Virginia isn't the actual Virginia but a piece of Alcatraz that thinks it's her.
- While she got infected by American Wonderland Syndrome which turns her into the monster she is, nothing suggest her moral agency is affected. For contrast, Everett Arnoldson has been infected by the same disease, but kept his faculties and chose to do an act that is described as "pure kindness and selflessness."
- She shows no sign of remorse after being part of a long conspiracy to destroy the planet and everyone on it. Even at the end of the series, the only emotion she displays is indifference and a need for self-preservation.
Background[]
- Accidentally killed her parents by throwing jewelry on the on top of a chandelier which causes her dad to use a ladder to take it. It would result the ladder falling with her dad held on to the chandelier but it end up crushing both him and Virginia's mom. (She initially felt remorse but would quickly subvert this remorse.)
- She would eventually run away and go into Wonderland where she turns into The Debate Demon and completely subverting any redeeming qualities she had left. She would then willingly help Alcatraz achieve its plans to become god.
- as a result of running away, it resulted the closure of the Walt Disney Home for Children, leaving dozens if not hundreds of orphans without a home.
- She would appear in Leonard Morlin's house and being terrorizing him.
Main series[]
- Is implied to be indirectly responsible for most, if not all, the crimes caused by the Republican Party. This includes the continued refusal for a gun control law, which directly leads to the continuation of mass shootings all over the United States, resulting in the deaths of several innocent civilians and children.
- Had the same goals as The Monument Monster: to drive a president from their respective political party mad into causing a global nuclear holocaust in order to empower Alcatraz and turn it into a god.
- Once the Monument Monster succeeded in their mission, the two quickly understood that Alcatraz would try to reabsorb them in their mass. As a last ditch effort to keep on living as independent beings, the two team up and trick Cthonaut A. into becoming their new vessel and use him to escape from the consequences of their actions to another universe.
Trivia[]
- She is an alternate, modern-day version of the character of the same name seen in the first two seasons of the first installment of the franchise. Unlike these two, she's not a sympathetic character but a villain.
