The Darkness is the overarching antagonist of the Skylanders franchise.
It serves as the overarching antagonist of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Skylanders: Giants, Skylanders: Swap Force, Skylanders: Trap Team and Skylanders: Imaginators and the main antagonist of Skylanders: SuperChargers.
It was originally portrayed as giant dark clouds (prior to it gaining sentience) and is told to be the ultimate force behind all evil. He cannot act on his own, therefore he has to work through others who are weak. The Darkness is the living embodiment of dark power, however he and his magic can be controlled both toward good and evil.
In Skylanders SuperChargers, the Darkness gains sentence and is voiced by Ike Amadi, who also voiced Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 11.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- It gave Kaos and his mother Kaossandra their powers. This makes it the one truly responsible for all the terrible things they did throughout the franchise.
- It destroyed Boom Jet's home village.
- It is responsible for the near extinction of the Ooga Warriors with Voodood being the only survivor.
- It also tried to destroy the Core of Light, which almost led to the fact that Spyro turned into Dark Spyro.
- It strengthened Kaos, which made him able to escape the Traptanium prison. Kaos together with Glumshanks then freed The Darkness.
- It uses Kaos as a pawn in order to rule the universe. Therefore, it tells Kaos that the universe can be controlled, and when the machine devastated the heavens, The Darkness will consume the magic of Skylands.
- It manipulated Kaos into firing Glumshanks when he tried to talk him out of conquering more worlds than just skylands
- It decides to destroy the Skylands while not even caring for all the lives that will be lost.
- When Kaos begins to have second thoughts about destroying Skylands, The Darkness threatens to strip him of his portal master powers unless he did as he was told, all the while making it clear he intends to use him as a puppet to rule the universe through. This shows that it has no true care for Kaos, despite feigning affability towards him throughout the game.
- It tries to enslave the entire universe.
- Even though it seems as if he is composed of evil, he is actually not because dark power can be used not only for evil, but for good as well (as demonstrated by the existence of dark-element Skylanders). This actually means that he is free to be a good being, but he simply chooses to be evil because of his lust for power and sadism.
