The Chairman is the main antagonist of the 2021 Disney Channel comedy and fantasy series The Ghost and Molly McGee, seeing as the main antagonist of Season 1 and the posthumous overarching antagonist of the 2nd and final season.
He is the former ruler of the Ghost World and the former head of the Ghost Council, and also the one who punishes ghosts that have failed to cause misery in the human world until he was destroyed by Molly McGee and her joy.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He proves himself to be something of a sadist despite never speaking: he was in on the plan of getting Scratch to admit that he was best friends with Molly McGee so they could use that as fuel to cast him into the Flow. He also would have been aware that he would be sending Jinx to murder a child, but he did not care.
- While he does work with the Barrister Ghosts, he most likely does not care about them and only sees them as means of getting what he wants.
- It's implied in "The New (Para)Normal" that he was constantly forcing them to work to the point where none of them knew how to relax.
- He is treated with 100% seriousness whenever he is onscreen, unlike most characters, who tend to have various comedic moments. Even the Barrister Ghosts have moments that deter their heinousness, even if they are rather brief.
- He creates a system where ghosts are forced to be miserable, and to spread misery throughout the human world to sustain his existence.
- Whenever a ghost failed to spread misery in their designated town, he would send them to the Flow of Failed Phantoms, composed of a literal whirlwind of deformed faces of the ghosts who had failed. They also appear to be in eternal anguish, as well. While he is willing to withhold judgment if the accused managed to prove their case, he only does so if it benefits him.
- He sends both Molly, who is a child and not even dead, and Scratch to the Flow of Failed Phantoms even when they gave a touching declaration of their friendship.
- While he was destroyed by joy, there is no indication that he is made of evil.
- It is stated in the show that The Chairman is made from misery.
- While he did keep the Frightmares in the Flow of Failed Phantoms as they were considered very dangerous to both human and ghost worlds, it is implied that he only did so for pragmatic reasons and not because he was truly concerned for the safety of both worlds.
- Just like with the Frightmares mentioned above, there is nothing to indicate that he kept Lord Doom in the Flow of Failed Phantoms because he was a dangerous and feared ghoul, but instead just because he probably interfered with his own objectives.
- Following his death, he's indirectly responsible for Jinx grew resentful towards Scratch after he was appointed as the new Chairman of the Ghost World, starting the events of the second season as result.
Trivia[]
- He is currently the only Pure Evil from The Ghost and Molly McGee.
- His Chibi Tiny Tales counterpart can’t qualify as Pure Evil due to the series being played for laughs.
- It is revealed in "The New (Para)Normal" that there are rules stating that "the ghost that takes down the previous Chairman becomes the new one", and that the robe gives you the unique Chairman appearance as seen with Scratch. This implies that this was not the first Chairman to exist and that he was once a normal ghost, if this indeed was true, it would make him much worse.
- One of the creators has stated that the chairman required misery because he liked the taste of it. If this was ever shown in the show it would make the Chairman even worse.
