Bet you weren't expecting a family reunion, 'eh Gamora?
~ Rocket questioning Gamora at seeing Thanos' illusion.

Thanos is the overarching antagonist of the 2021 video game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

He is a genocidal warlord hailing from Titan, one of Saturn's moons, who is the brains behind the Galactic War, a galactic-scale conflict, after allying with the Chitauri. He also served as Gamora and Nebula's adopted father and later the archenemy of Drax, as Thanos was responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter Hovat and Kamaria, as well as his people in Katath.

Despite being supposedly "dead" at the hands of Drax after the Galactic War, Thanos' destructive actions left an indelible, long-lasting impact across the galaxy, as it directly started the terror with the Universal Church of Truth and its leader Raker.

What Makes Him Pure Evil[]

  • While this incarnation of Thanos is an amalgamation of his Marvel Cinematic Universe and his mainstream counterpart, this Thanos lacks the redeeming qualities that both his counterparts have, making him similar to Darkseid.
  • His obsessive "love" to Lady Death is nothing more than mere obsession, as it is simply a sordid, twisted motivation to commit his act of omnicide including him sparking the Galactic War.
  • While it was initially known that this Thanos wanted to achieve balance by eliminating half of all life, in a similar vein to his MCU counterpart, this Thanos shows no interest with balance and harmony and instead plans to exterminate all life across the galaxy, just to showcase his utter sadism.
  • Massacred the entire Zen-Whoberi race, including Gamora's family, before adopting the latter and later Nebula to turning them both of as his personal assassins.
    • Shows no care for his adopted children, as shown when Gamora mentioned how he burnt both her and Nebula's toys, emphasizing his rather detached and twisted familial nature as he claimed they were teaching them "attachment".
  • Started the Galactic War and allied with the Chitauri race, which not only caused trillions of lives lost from his terror, but also it left a long-lasting impact to the entire universe and its people, as a whole.
    • He and his army invaded Xandar, murdering all of the planet's inhabitants and destroying it to quarters. While the event regarding it is off-screen, the resulting effects of Thanos' terror in Xandar has on-screen effects, as Xandar was seen during Chapter 9: Desperate Measures, where the said planet was split into pieces.
    • He used a Chitauri decoy to distract Drax's Katathian squad, where he and his army proceeded to target Lugradus, one of the towns within Katath, and slaughtered most of the Katathians in there, including Drax's wife Hovat and his daughter Kamaria.
      • As a result, Drax is shown to have a very personal villainy to Thanos, which drove the Destroyer himself into vengeance to kill his nemesis for the deaths of his family.
    • He destroyed Planet X and massacred all of its inhabitants, leaving only Groot as the sole survivor of his former home and the entire Flora Colossi race.
    • He targetted the Kree Empire's capital city of Kree-Lar, quickly destroyed the capital and murdered most of its people.
    • He had a young Peter Quill kidnapped and Meredith Quill murdered just to he could use Quill as a hostage during the war as he was the son of J'son.
  • His actions in the past, despite being "dead" at the hands of Drax, are considered to be long-lasting and permanent, as it directly caused the conflict with the Universal Church of Truth and Raker, with the latter using the Promise to "grant" the victims of Thanos' terror their deepest desires to reunite with their lost love ones. In reality the said victims would be brainwashed by it, turn into Converted and use as sacrificial sources for the Faith energy, which would herald Magus' awakening, so that Magus would conquer and destroy the universe to his own ends.
