~ Terence T. D'Arby |
Terence/Telence T. D'Arby is a minor antagonist JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, the third arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. One of DIO's agents and the brother of Daniel J. D'Arby, Telence shares his brother's obsession of collecting several souls, while additionally being an avid gamer. However, his obsession towards collecting souls is notably far worse compared to his brother, as it is revealed that he condemns them to a state of perpetual torment upon acquiring their souls through illicit methods and cheating. He is the last enemy Stand user that Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar, and Noriaki Kakyoin faces before the final battle with DIO.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Eiji Takemoto in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future and Junichi Suwabe in both JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle and the anime, who also voices Relius Clover in BlazBlue. In English, he was voiced by Xander Mobus in the anime's English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He collects several people's souls with his Stand through cheating on video games challenges, before transforming them into his dolls for his collection to play with; this leaves them in a state of perpetual torment and agony. It is estimated around twenty people were the victims of the horror he inflicted, with one of them including a child prodigy who is seen begging for his mother's presence.
- In addition, it is mentioned that Terence likes to change the clothes of his dolls, arguably making him guilty of sexual assault.
- In the past, it is stated that he brutally beat his brother after he found out that Daniel flirted with his girlfriend, causing him to be terrified of Terence. While this was kind of justified considering the fact that Daniel was far older, making him possibly guilty of ephebophilia, it is heavily implied that he was already abusive towards his older brother even before this incident occurred.
- While he acknowledges that his brother was driven irreparably insane due to his encounter with the Joestars, Terence then goes on to state that he had no desire to avenge him while callously blaming him for his own loss. This proves that he has no care for Daniel in any capacity whatsoever.
- He holds no true loyalty towards DIO, as Terence only served him for the sake of collecting souls. Vanilla Ice stated that he was not willing to die for DIO.
- He assisted Vanilla Ice and Kenny G. by bullying Nukesaku for not having a Stand.
- He attempted to add Kakyoin to his soul collection, successfully managing to do so via cheating in a game with him.
- He also cheated in an attempt to add the soul of Jotaro Kujo to his collection, only to fail as Joseph Joestar helped him play video games by using his Stand known as Hermit Purple.
- When the two Joestars defeat Terence, he cowardly begs for mercy while feigning remorse.
- While his defeat is somewhat comedic, it is played less for laughs and more for upmost satisfaction.
- While JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has a very high Heinous Standard, Terence's crime of soul theft, as well as condemning his victims to a state far worse than death, are unique to the series.
- Unlike his brother Daniel, Terence is simply a sadistic abuser who tortures people's souls for his own enjoyment, acquiring them via underhanded and deceptive methods.
