~ Tengu Shredder upon his resurrection. |
Oroku Saki, better known as the Tengu Shredder, is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Shredder Tengu) of the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, serving as the main antagonist of the fifth season.
He was the original Shredder, who is considered the greatest evil the world had ever known. The Tengu Shredder seeks to remake the world into a hellish reflection of his dark, twisted soul where humanity is forever tormented by demons and other supernatural evils. After being defeated and imprisoned, his identity was usurped by the evil Utrom, Ch'rell.
He was voiced by Scottie Ray, who also voiced Utrom Shredder in the same show.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- While the standards are high and he's incredibly powerful to the point of being a near god-like figure, his powers have limits that tether him to just Earth, and the Tengu Shredder tries to be the worst he can in spite of such a limitation preventing him from menacing other planets due to him having the worst plans for Earth as a whole on a very individual baisis.
- Once a great warrior who was called upon by the emperor to defeat the Tengu Shredder, he willingly surrendered his humanity to merge with the Tengu Shredder's demon essence out of his own lust for power and expresses pride for being the sadistic villain he is in the present.
- Upon merging with the Tengu Shredder, he unleashed a reign of terror on Japan, having entire villages wiped out, countless people killed or forced to become his slaves, and allies resurrected to be his hoard of undead minions.
- Sought to enforce his tyranny onto the rest of the world by spreading his demonic influence before being sealed away by the Ninja Tribunal.
- Upon his resurrection by the loyal Foot Heralds, he expresses his gratitude by regularly torturing them for the slightest reasons, including suggesting to deal with his third impersonator/successor Karai swiftly. This also showed how dismissive he is toward his minions, which both painted him as detestable well as cost him greatly as Karai later weakened him during the final battle.
- Going on a sadistic warpath, he tried to kill as many civilians as he could while musing how he had missed the agony and suffering he wrought on Japan.
- Wipes out Karai's defense forces with prideful relish as he cruelly uses a visage of her adoptive father simply to toy with her and psychologically tear her down before trying to make Karai his personal slave.
- When the Tengu Shredder sees a defensive Dr. Chaplin attack him for Karai's safety, he decides to kill Karai upon seeing how deeply he cares for her, striking a near fatal blow.
- Seeks to reduce the entire planet to a hellish reflection of his own twisted soul, with humanity constantly tormented by demons and other supernatural evils while the dead are resurrected as undead slaves as the world gets reduced to that of agony, chaos and pain.
- To begin his plans of remaking Earth, he transforms New York into a hellish landscape, allowing his demon hoard to attack innocent civilians, having them electrocuted, chased around and abused by demons who seek to stab them with swords.
- When the Turtles and their allies inflict grievous wounds on him, the Shredder vaporizes all his minions and steals their powers to restore himself in a final attempt to kill them and secure his victory.
Trivia[]
- He was initially believed to be Near Pure Evil due to paling in comparison to his successor Utrom Shredder in terms of death counts and resources (Tengu Shredder's overall mystical might had yet to reach the point where he could spread his evil to other planets) as well as debate whether Shredder Tengu, the demon from whom he attained his dark powers corrupted him inside out thus presenting moral agency issues. However, it has since been confirmed that Tengu Shredder's personality is the dominant one despite the merger with Shredder Tengu and as stated previously, he tried his best to do the worst he could, showing that he's just as heinous and dangerous as well as has clear moral agency after all.
