~ Tarantulas turning on the Predacons |
Tarantulas is the secondary antagonist of the 2021 comic series, Transformers: Beast Wars published by IDW Comics. A scientist and torturer already infamous for his brutality, he was swayed to serve Megatron to satisfy his own morbid curiosities, serving as not only his chief lieutenant but his primary scientist and torturer. But in secret, Tarantulas schemes to usurp his master, using shell program to turn Maximal protoforms into evil and create his own personal army, and eventually betrays his team to the Vok when their offers knowledge swayed him more than Megatron and then seeks to conquer Cybertron on his own.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Is a very infamous mad scientist and torturer. The general frequency of his tortures and the sheer pain and suffering is so immense, Tarantulas was given the reputation of a butcher among Maximals with death being preferable a fate than torture at his hands, and Tarantulas prides himself as an artist in the crime. This reputation gave him the role as Megatron's torture technician.
- Makes it clear he holds no loyalty to Megatron or his cause and if preferable an outcome, he would gladly betray him.
- Just like his original counterpart, he did not have friendship with his fellow Predacon members. He only viewed them as pawns for his goals.
- Subjects Nyx to cold-blooded torture for hours on end to the point where her body, her circuits and the flesh of her alt-mode start to slowly break. He then makes it clear he will subject her to pain regardless, and if she doesn't answer any of the questions given to her, he will give more pain.
- To dispose of her when she is no longer of use, Tarantulas uses a transformation locking device to force her into her robot mode and slowly decay to Energon poisoning, and then feast on what all remains of her body. This act of sadism disgusted Dinobot into turning on the Predacons and rescue Nyx.
- Upon infiltrating the Maximals' ship, the Axalon, and destroy it form the inside, he tries to devour Rattrap.
- Upon being informed the various Maximal protoforms, which is the equivalent of Cybertronian babies, that are on orbit around Earth to keep them safe from the crash, Tarantulas tries to install a shell programming on all of them, forcing them all to become evil Predacons like himself to grow a personal army to overthrow Megatron. While Rattrap throws him out of a window before he could complete the process, he was able to infect one of them, who awakens as Blackarachnia. While she started out as non-malicious and just genuinely curious about Earth, when the shell programming kicks in, she is forcibly turned into an evil Predacon.
- Stabs Dinobot in the back to let the Predacons beat him to near death.
- Sells out both the Maximals and Predacons as well as the entire Earth as a whole to be destroyed by the Vok for the sake of getting all the knowledge of the universe, sabotaging their efforts to stop them while they were on a truce.
- Brainwashes multiple Maximal protoforms to create the Children of the Vok, shock soldiers for the Vok to use.
- Uses Terrorsaur's corpse to create a zombie that endlessly thirsts for Energon, using him to devour his friend, Scorponok, to escape the Darksyde.
- Gleefully watches as the Maximals, Predacons and the Children of the Vok go to a battle to the death thanks to his machinations and see the carnage unfold.
- While Tarantulas doesn't have much on scale (as the only actually sapient life on Earth is just the barely above a dozen Cybertronians on Earth at that point of time and non-sapient animals), Tarantulas makes it up plenty for his immense personal cruelty and sadism as a self-admitted artist on torture.
