Tama Riyadi is the main antagonist of the Indonesian action movie The Raid: Redemption. He is a ruthless drug lord based out of a tower block in Jakarta who conspires with corrupt police chief Reza to kill Police Lieutenant Wahyu and cover up their corrupt dealings.
He was portrayed by Ray Sahetapy.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He controls a large part of the criminal underworld in Jakarta, including drug trafficking and police corruption, and uses the tenants of his tower block as killers for hire, threatening them with eviction if they fail to go along.
- He is introduced shooting four prisoners execution-style, then when he runs out of ammo he kills the fifth by battering him to death with a claw hammer. He does this after deliberately choosing to take the hammer from his desk instead of an extra bullet that was right next to it, so it was clearly due to sadism rather than necessity.
- He conspires with Reza to kill Lieutenant Wahyu in order to cover up their corrupt dealings. To this end, he allows Wahyu and his team of 19 officers to enter his building before having them ambushed by gunmen and sets machete-wielding tenants on them, ultimately resulting in the deaths of 17 officers.
- After his right-hand man Andi refuses to kill his brother Officer Rama, Tama stabs him through the hand and beats him before ordering his henchman Mad Dog to torture, kill and skin him in order to spite Rama.
- When arrested by Wahyu he brags about how many officers were killed in the raid and reveals to him that Reza sold him out and he is a dead man walking, taking sadistic glee in telling him this.
