Swartt Sixclaw is the main villain of the Redwall book Outcast of Redwall by Brian Jacques. He is a psychopathic ferret who seeks revenge when the young badger Sunflash wounds him while escaping enslavement.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He is conveyed to have been a torturer of his enemies with it being clear he’s kept a necklace of teeth and claws from those he had killed.
- He enslaves Sunflash and horribly mistreats him, beating and tormenting the badger for several seasons.
- He swears to hunt down Sunflash when he escapes and give him a slow, agonizing death.
- He poisons his retired mentor Bowfleg and takes control of his horde, telling them that they are his "to the death." To make things worse, Bowfleg chose to retire from his wars and atrocities after achieving what he wanted, which makes Swartt even pettier with his insistence to stay wicked even beyond the average warlord.
- He takes Bowfleg's daughter Bluefen as his wife and treats her as a trophy, noting her physical attractiveness, but mostly ignoring her.
- When informed that his captain Wildag is conspiring against him, Swartt orders Wildag's friend Lardtail to force-feed him a dead crow, bones and all, which results in Wildag choking to death. Swartt then accuses Lardtail of murdering an officer and executes him as he screams for mercy.
- Following a crow attack, Swartt dismisses the death of two of his bodyguards, noting he would have killed them himself for not warning him, then orders two other sentries executed for sleeping on duty, having this done in front of the entire horde to teach them a lesson.
- He poisons Shang Damsontongue and assimilates her band of foxes into his horde.
- He sends the rebellious fox Balefur to his death in a den of adders, along with two of Balefur's friends.
- He ignores Bluefen's death in childbirth, having her buried with scant ceremony, then hands his son over to another horde member as if the child has nothing to do with him, later abandoning his son when he's lost in a battle.
- He launches an attack on Salamandastron, where Sunflash rules, while also disposing of his rival Captain Zigu by sending him to his death leading a dangerous charge.
- He treats his troops as cannon fodder, throwing them at the enemy with no regard for their safety, which gets most of his army killed.
- He hires an assassin, the Wraith, to murder Sunflash, planning to kill the Wraith once the job is done.
- He has Nightshade stage an ambush that kills Skarlath, Sunflash's closest friend. When Sunflash kills Nightshade in revenge, Swartt ignores her death.
- He has his horde shoot down any bats they find despite them not being a threat, killing dozens or so of them in the process.
- He belittles and mocks his son Veil when they meet, threatening his life more than once.
- He captures Sunflash and promises to see him die in agony. When Veil's adoptive parent Bryony tries to help Sunflash, Swartt tries to kill her and fatally wounds Veil when he defends her, showing no remorse for killing his own son.
