“ | You mutants think it's your turn to rule the world. But there's a third voice, a third species-- man plus. And to us, you're just livestock. | „ |
~ Sublime |
Sublime is a long-running villain from the X-Men comic book series and began his life as an alien bacterium that landed on Earth in its primordial past and quickly took to manipulating humanity from within, yet when mutants began to surface Sublime was unable to control their thoughts and saw them as a threat to his hidden supremacy.
Thus, Sublime was masterminding a war against mutants, with humanity as his pawns and the U-Men cult as his enforcers - he would continue to crop up over the years, prepared to wipe out the mutant race, if necessary, in order to ensure he remained the apex power in Earth's evolution.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Despite being Bacteria. Him and his sister Archaea has full moral agency and intelligent.
- They turn on their creator Threshold, ancient mutants/humans' civilization created by time travel Kate Pryde, lead to the destruction. Only stop by Cassandra Nova by paralyzed them with her power.
- He fought and try to murder his sister for the right to be in control of the Earth and the flow of life.
- Manipulated humanity's evolution since primordial times.
- Presumably steal many other people body before the current millionaire body, took away their lives and freedom.
- Seeks to destroy mutants simply because their genetics make them resistant to his control.
- Sees humans and mutants alike as tools, comparing them to cattle.
- Participate in the Weapon X program and aided them in the experimentation of both mutants and human. He had his hands on the experiments involving putting Adamantium onto a brainwashes Logan/Wolverine.
- Created a drug called "Kick" and gave it to the mutant Xorn. It actually has pieces of him to help enable the infection of other mutants thus making it possible for him to possess them. Quentin Quire would fall victim to this, being placed onto Sublime's control which caused the Open Day Riots. This led to the deaths of Sophie and Dummy.
- It was implied that he is the reason humanity has such irrational hatred of mutants, having mentally manipulated them into doing so.
- He formed the U-Men cult, who hypocritically harvest mutant organs to make themselves into artificial "mutants", who Sublime sees as a new stage of evolution - super-beings under his personal control.
Notes[]
- in an infamous All-New X-Men story arc attempts were made to make Sublime more "human" but these changes have since been dismissed as out-of-character and have not resurfaced, it is also possible the actions of this particular "Sublime" was to do with his human host rather than the bacterium itself. Thus Sublime, for the foreseeable future, remains purely evil despite this anomalous entry.
