Steve Johnson is the main antagonist of "Death Tome", the second segment of The Simpsons Halloween special "Treehouse of Horror XXXIII".
He is a Shinigami who left out his Death Note to the world of humans for anyone to use, having been picked up Lisa Simpson, he decides to manipulate her to go on a killing spree.
He is inspired by Ryuk from the original series and is voiced by Hank Azaria.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He enabled Lisa to go on a killing spree due to letting her have the Death Tome.
- He then started manipulating Lisa to become a serial killer.
- He started laughing when he though Lisa was going to kill Bart, only to find out she was going to kill him instead.
- He had full moral agency as the Halloween special lacked the explicit description of Shinigami, and he was seemingly the only Shinigami onscreen.
- Despite being comedic, being a parody of Ryuk with his name being as casual as "Steve Johnson" which even Lisa said how generic it was as a name for a death god, he's still a threat in-universe.
Trivia[]
- He’s one of the two versions of Ryuk to be Pure Evil, alongside his Netflix counterpart.
