Stop hand

I had planned on ensuring your destruction in space at the hands of my enemies, the Autobots. The intent was to shame them. But your unfortunate circumstances now preclude this outcome. Regrettable. Just as it is regrettable for you that you did not know what you had back on your homeworld.
~ Starscream revealing his true colours to the crew of Ghost One
You can't hide BOY!
~ Starscream to Sam Witwicky as he sadistically hunts him down.

Starscream is the secondary antagonist of the original continuity of the Transformers film series.

He is the treacherous lieutenant of Megatron who is behind the Fallen and Megatron himself as the highest authority of the organization. Ambitious to no end, Starscream attempts to supplant Megatron's authority and then destroy the Autobots to proclaim his supreme control over Cybertron and Earth. While just another mook in the films, additional tie-in novels add in crimes that show Starscream is vile by his own right.

He was voiced in the movies by Charlie Adler. In Dark of the Moon videogame (which is canon for the movies), he was voiced by Steve Blum, who also voiced his Transformers: Prime counterpart.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

Transformers (2007)[]

  • Upon discovering the ship known as Ghost One, he attempts to manipulate them into fighting against the Autobots and end up dying as a result, just so he can force the Autobots into killing less powerful beings to defend themselves and break their spirits.
  • When the crew of Ghost One become suspicious over him, he gleefully organizes them to slowly sink down under the surface of the planet they are marooned in.
  • Has Blackout tortured for daring to question his leadership over the Decepticons and how trustworthy he is.
  • In order to silence the knowledge that Megatron and the Allspark are on Earth, he was willing to doom his own planet to remain a barren wasteland just so he alone can be the one that finds the sacred relic and restore it of life, he has Ghost One destroyed, killing all of its crew in the process.
    • He then plots to unleash death and destruction across Earth as spite for the crew standing up to him.
  • Leads the initial Decepticon invasion in the first film, through which under Starscream's orders:
    • Scorponok and Blackout attack and slaughter a military base in Qatar, and some civilians nearby.
    • Frenzy kills his way through a government database to upload a virus that causes worldwide havoc
    • Directly leads the charge against Hoover Dam that sees many human personnel killed in the process.
  • Kills an entire squadron of human soldiers and nearly killing several Autobots to claim the Allspark so that Megatron can use it to wipe out all of humanity.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen[]

  • Upon taking advantage of Megatron's death to be the leader of the Decepticons, he attempts to destroy a huge dam in Zambia that would flood the entire country and kill at least tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people, and have it ruin countless more as a result of the damage economy, and use this grand display to cow the people of Earth to become his slaves.
  • Sets up a trap for the Autobots that sees him murdering Beachbreak.
  • Partnering up with Bruno Carrera and learning from Bruno that Optimus' true weakness is the emotional turmoil of innocent humans dying on his watch, Starscream launches an all-out attack on Rome to try killing as many humans as they can to weaken Optimus' mettle and destroy the Autobots.
  • When the plot on Rome fails and Bruno slights his ego, Starscream has him vaporized out of petty annoyance, attending to have every last detail that all that was left of him is smoking ruins like he never even existed.
  • When Megatron was revived, Starscream is faking that he is pleased for his master's ressurection, but Megatron revealed that Starscream left him to die on Eath. showcasing that Starscream is a traitor who attempted to usurp Megatron's leadership.
  • While serving The Fallen, Megatron, Starscream and the Decepticons hunted Sam to lure Optimus to a trap in order for Megatron to temporarily kill the last Prime.
  • Starscream and Megatron forced the humans to find Sam and hand him over, or else they will all die.
  • While reaching the Pyramid, Starscream report Megatron that the Autobots and NEST brought Optimus' body, so that Sam will revive the deceased Prime. Megatron declared to Starscream that they must not let Sam reach Optimus.
  • Has Rampage take Sam's parents hostage to force Sam into giving him the Matrix, wanting to give it to Megatron and the Fallen so that they can activate the Star Harvester and wipe out all life on Earth.
  • He relucantly helped Megatron to get up in his figth with Optimus but was too late to aid The Fallen when he was killed by Optimus. While he did help, Starscream only did for pragmatic reason.
  • With The Fallen now dead, Starscream suggest Megatron that now is the perfect time for retreat since they lost the battle by saying "Sometimes, cowards do survive".

Transformers: Dark of the Moon[]

  • He mocked Megatron for being so wounded and weak due to his injuries by Optimus at Egypt.
  • Personally attacks the Xanthium in an attempt to kill all of the Autobots in one-fell swoop and render Earth defenseless against the Decepticons.
  • During the infamous invasion organized by Sentinel Prime, he slaughters any and all military units that try to enter Chicago so that the Decepticons are free to devastate the city to further his and Megatron's plot to decimate the entire Earth and enslave all that remains of humanity.
  • Upon noticing Sam Witwicky and Carly Brooks-Spencer, he sadistically hunts and toys with them, gloating about how much he will enjoy killing them, with him making a perverted remark that they would be "alone" together as a treat, until Sam Witwicky kills him with a boom stick on Starscream's left eye that destroys his vision which later explodes.
  • His abuse at the hands of Megatron doesn't make him a scapegoat, and while some of them comes off as somewhat comical, they don't detract from any of his crimes.
  • His role in the Battle of Chicago ended up straining the relationship between the Autobots and the humans, as it led Harold Attinger and Cemetery Wind to deem all Autobots evil and hire Lockdown to exterminate them all, resulting in the Battle of Hong Kong, which ended with the world leaders making the Autobots illegal and creating the Transformers Reaction Force (TRF) in order to kill any Autobot spotted on Earth, which would continue until the final confrontation with Quintessa.

Trivia[]

  • Had it been just the films, Starscream wouldn't have qualified as Pure Evil in the films as he would be too much of an accessory to the crimes of the nastier Megatron, The Fallen and Sentinel Prime. It was only until the release of the tie-in novels The Veiled Threat and Ghosts of Yesterday was he able to qualify as Pure Evil due to his extra crimes he commits as his own individual shows he is nasty enough by his own right than just an accessory to worst villains.
    • Furthermore, the films makes it seem like he's far too loyal to Megatron.
    • This is also, alongside his Aligned, Prime Wars, and Cyberverse incarnations, one of the four incarnations of Starscream to prove himself to be more despicable than Megatron.
