What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Stole a sample of T-Virus, and would use it to cover up the theft by starting the outbreak in the Hive, murdering all 500 employees in the lab by tossing the vial and breaking it, thus resulting the T-Virus to run loose, and turning them into zombies. Considering there are no survivors to be seen when the lab is entered later, its safe to assume that Spence killed everyone in it.
- Betraying Alice, with her friends Rain Ocampo and Matt Addison, by trapping all of them in the lab.
- Taunted Alice, proudly revealing that he caused the outbreak and taunting her attempts to expose Umbrella to the world, before leaving her and her friends to die from either zombies or a licker.
- Despite his demise, he had posthumously caused billions of deaths worldwide as a result of the T-Virus having spread airborne, even zombifying them altogether, causing life on Earth to decay into a global wasteland.
Trivia[]
- He and Dr. Alexander Isaacs are the only Pure Evils in Resident Evil movies.
- According to the original script, Spence's theft of the viruses differently. Whereas the final script has him intentionally release the virus to accomplish a greater scheme, Anderson's original proposed draft portrayed it as an accident. Had this been kept in the final version of the film, then Spence wouldn’t qualify as Pure Evil because his worst actions would’ve been completely accidental, thus he simply would’ve been (in the earlier script), a bog-standard saboteur who didn’t truly mean to release the virus upon humanity.
