Rumor has it that the best fighter in Tokyo is around here. They say it's some 17-year-old punk kid, sound familiar? Baki Hanma. Even if there's no chance in hell of you defeating me, I owe you this much...put 'er there.
~ Spec during his first meeting with Baki.

Spec is a major antagonist of manga and anime series Baki the Grappler, being one of the main antagonists of the Most Evil Death Row Convicts saga. He's a sadistic, homicidal serial killer and escaped death row inmate who fled to Japan to find someone to fight in order to "Taste Defeat".

He is voiced in Japanese by Chafurin (who also voiced Ubik in Berserk). In the English dubs he is voiced by David Wald in the Sentai dub, and by Kyle Hebert (who also voices the Chief Lion in Beastars, and Grima and Validar in Fire Emblem Awakening) in the Studiopolis dub.

What Makes Him Pure Evil[]

  • Before being locked up, he was a serial killer responsible for several murders in Florida which got him the death sentence in the first place.
  • He brutally murders a professional boxer trying to interview him, demolishing his face in the process.
  • He murders another man attempting an interview with him, breaking both his neck and ripping a gold tooth from him and later escapes from prison.
  • During his escape from prison, he murders several police officers on shore, then fled to Japan where he murders a officer in a police cruiser before mutilating his hand as well.
  • He massacres an entire heavily armed tasked force with his own bare hands when they tried to arrest him and stop him.
  • Upon meeting Baki, he initially was acting polite and showing respect to him even offering him a handshake. However it's later revealed to be just a facade as he was using the mutilated police hand then proceeds to assault him several times while cackling all the way.
  • Once he gotten hungry, broke out of prison and went off to assault and kill a cashier. Later trying to force feed the commissioner of the police one of the dumplings he stolen against his will afterwards.
  • Later starts stalking and attempt to kill Baki and his girlfriend in a park only for one of Baki's allies, Hanayama, to intervene. Spec starts viciously attacking Hanayama through several objects from rocks to a whole bench with the intent to kill him. Even using a deadly move which is him assaulting Hanayama until he's dead. He doesn't even care if Hanayama or Baki are teenagers in the end.
  • After his first defeat, he massacres a police station killing several police officers and starts using a gun to kill Hanayama.
  • He's the least sympathetic and honorable of the five death row inmates making him the most evil and psychotic of the bunch. He lacks the genuine affability of Dorian and doesn't redeemed himself like Hector Doyle, and has the most bodycount than all of the escaped prisoners. Even his affable and at times witty humor are just a facade to his sadistic nature.
  • While he did accept his defeat as it's what he wanted, it doesn't make him honorable as he's willing to use dirty tactics in a fight and it was all just a self-serving motive in the end to satisfy his blood lust and desire to kill while enjoying the bloodshed in the process.

Trivia[]

  • Spec is currently the only villain in Baki the Grappler to be Pure Evil.
