“ | The time has finally come...to unleash the Forbidden Spell of Zahras upon our enemies! | „ |
~ Solon as he unleashes the Forbidden Spell of Zahras on Byleth after sacrificing Kronya. |
Solon, also known as Tomas or the Savior of All, is a major antagonist of the Fódlan Saga within Nintendo's Fire Emblem franchise.
He is a major antagonist of the 2019 tactical video game Fire Emblem: Three Houses, being one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside the Death Knight) in the Academy Phase/White Clouds, and a minor antagonist of its 2022 spin-off sequel Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
He is a member of Those Who Slither in the Dark, and one of Thales' confidants. Suitable for his appearance, he uses cunning schemes and tricks in order to gain what he desires. He is a highly dangerous and ruthless individual, who delusionally considers himself a savior, as he willing to commit inhumane crimes to accomplish the slithers' goal on eradicating humanity.
He was voiced by Shinya Fukumatsu in Japanese and Joe Ochman (whom also voiced the Creeper from Animalia) in English.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- Like Thales and Cleobulus, Solon is one of the most ruthless members of the slithers, as he is willing to conduct inhumane experiments on many innocent individuals just for the purpose of turning them into weapons.
- In addition, he has the disturbing habit of wanting to observe the results of his twisted experiments without showing any empathy towards the victims.
- Although he is loyal to Thales and often speaks highly of him, his loyalty to him is more a result of a fanatical devotion, since both of them are ruthless and cold-hearted individuals.
- Despite not having much resources in comparison to Thales (who is the leader of the slithers and regent of the Adrestian Empire) and Cleobulus (who is the regent of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus), Solon still stands out because of the horrible experiments he has conducted on others with his limited resources.
Three Houses[]
The Academy Phase/White Clouds[]
- On orders of Thales, he infiltrated Garegg Mach Monastery by killing the old retired librarian Tomas and using his identity. Once he did, he began to read books regarding the Ministery's affairs, planning to use them for his nefarious plans.
- He also did the same to Monica von Ochs, having her abducted and later killed, in order to have Kronya infiltrate the Officers Academy. Because of him, this resulted in Kronya transforming students into demonic beasts and killing Jeralt Reus Eisner.
- The Golden Deer route strongly implies Solon was trying to enhance Claude's antagonistic relationship with the Church of Seiros by revealing that the Church was concealing dark secrets pertaining to the Heroes' Relics and Crests, while lying that the Sword of Creator corrupted Nemesis (despite the fact that Nemesis had already been an evil man).
- He caused the Remire Village Massacre by turning its villagers berserk and mad with violence, using them to murder each other and destroying everything in their path. Despite Byleth and the houses stopping him, the damage done to the village was beyond repair and several of its survivors were left traumatized by Solon's attack.
- If Byleth and the Houses fail to save all of the villagers, Solon will declare his "experiment" a success and have his forces execute the remaining survivors without hesitation.
- His actions also led to Dimitri becoming more vengeful, fully leading to his vengeful hatred towards the Flame Emperor (Who is revealed to be Edelgard), blaming her for the Tragedy of Duscur and the Remire Village Massacre (Both of which she had no part of).
- He would betray and kill Kronya, using her as a way to unleash the Forbidden Spell of Zahras to trap Byleth in the void (Even if Kronya ultimately deserved it for her heinous acts, this was a rather brutal fate to receive. Even Byleth, who hated Kronya for the murder of their father, was shocked by these actions).
- After Byleth escaped the void, Solon made one final attempt to kill Byleth and the house students.
Three Hopes[]
In both the Scarlet Blaze and Golden Wildfire Routes[]
- He caused chaos in both the Hrym and Ordelia territories, allowing bandits to take advantage of the chaos and to steal valuable items and kill anyone who stands in their way.
- Despite being defeated, he quickly escapes from the clutches of death, making him a Karma Houdini.
Into the Chasm (All three routes)[]
- He attempts to assassinate both Byleth and Shez (who was possessed by Epimenides/Arval) in hopes of preventing them from using their power to destroy the slithers.
- During the assassination attempt, he also attempts to kill the house leaders and their forces to prevent them from rescuing Shez and Byleth.
