~ The Militiaman's response to Joel pleading for his and his allies' lives, explaining they're American, as well as his most infamous quote. |
The unnamed soldier is the secondary antagonist of the 2024 thriller film Civil War.
He is a xenophobic militiaman from the US military who has a prejudice toward Americans that are from the Western Front, as well as anyone who's from another different country. As such, he and his militia that he formed murder anyone crossing their bases that he deemed was "not American" with their victims being piled up in a mass grave.
He was portrayed by Jesse Plemons, who also played Robert Daly in Black Mirror and Prince Joachim in Jungle Cruise.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He is a xenophobic soldier who has a prejudice toward Americans from the Western Front, as well as anyone who's from another country other than the US, leading him to massacre tons of innocent people on the basis of their race.
- While he's not actually seen killing these people on-screen, he's seen tossing dead bodies into a mass grave, giving it on-screen effects.
- He took Bohai and Jesse hostage, despite the latter being a teenage girl, proceeding to murder Bohai in cold blood with no hesitation or remorse when he revealed he was from Hong Kong.
- After killing Bohai, he murdered Tony for being from the Western Front.
- He tried to kill Lee, Jesse, and Joel when they confronted him and tried to negotiate with him for their lives, only to be killed when Sammy hit him with a car and died in the process, meaning the Militiaman’s actions forced Sammy to die in the middle of coming to his friends’ rescue.
- Despite serving as a relatively minor antagonist, his actions and the indirect murder of Sammy gravely traumatized Lee, Jesse, and Joel.
- Despite having to compete with the President, he still easily passes the heinous standards due to lower resources as he's a simple soldier while the President is an extremely wealthy figure with a lot of influence at his disposal.
