Solaris is a major antagonist of the DC One Million comics, the main antagonist of All-Star Superman #11, and the secondary antagonist of the 2011 direct-to-video animated superhero eponymous film based on the All-Star Superman series. Solaris is a gigantic computer AI in the form of the sun itself and was hired by Lex Luthor in terms of getting rid of Superman for good.
In the film, he was voiced by Robin Atkins Downes, who also voiced Deathshead in Wolfenstein, Baron Zemo in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Abomination in the 2010 Marvel Animated Universe, Valak in The Conjuring franchise, Kano in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, Emperor Nefarious in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Shinnok in Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Consumed many stars and left many inhabited planets to die.
- When Luthor contacted him for some assistance in taking down Superman for good, he secretly planned to betray Luthor when he turned the sun blue beforehand and when fighting Superman.
- Turned the sun red to make Superman powerless.
- He explained to Superman that his plan was to consume the sun to make humanity pray to him or die.
- He destroyed all of Superman's robots, including Robot 7, when he tried to stop him.
- When Superman brought his pet Sun-Eater to defeat Solaris, he killed him in one blow, horrifying and enraging Superman.
- While in his last moments he cowardly begged Superman for mercy, he did it only out of cowardice, and it was likely to trick him.
- Despite his death, he managed to turn the sun blue behind Luthor's plan, forcing Superman to sacrifice himself.
