The Snake Demon, also known as the Serpent Demon, was a flashback antagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She was worshipped by the entire Iguro Family.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She killed and ate dozens of babies after torturing them by either locking them or removing parts of their bodies, saying it was her favorite meal.
- Unlike other demons, there is no indication that she was a benevolent human that was corrupted by being transformed into a demon.
- She negotiated with the Iguro clan to give her shelter and worship her presence in exchange for the clan sacrificing their offspring for her to eat while killing off dozens of innocent people for the Iguro clan to receive the victims' luxuries and riches.
- She attempted to devour Obanai as a baby before having him spared for pragmatic reasons such as his heterochromia being rare and was only willing to wait for her moment to eat him once he's grown up.
- Throughout Obanai's childhood, the Snake Demon kept him locked up in a cell and would eventually have his mouth scarred to look just like hers as a means to have herself feast on him, letting him suffer before being eaten by her.
- When Obanai escaped the cell she put him in, she killed around fifty of the Iguro clan (minus the surviving cousin), showing that she didn’t care about them from the start before tracking down Obanai to kill him until she was decapitated.
- She tries to murder Obanai after she caught him escaping her cell.
- Although most of her heinous actions are offscreen, they do have onscreen effects and some of them are shown evidentially as she was first seen laying in a number of skulls that could belong to her victims throughout her murders for the Iguro clan (possibly even the babies she devoured).
- She is the very reason Obanai hates demons, as his traumatic past gave him PTSD with his family members clinging their hatred towards Obanai.
- Despite the high standards, the Snake Demon has very few resources and manages to do the worst she could as her habit of eating babies is a fairly unique crime compared to the other Demon Slayer villains who killed children (Except in Muzan's case).
Trivia[]
- Snake Demon is the only female Pure Evildoer in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
- She is an average demon, but stands out as one of the worst ones yet despite only appearing in one chapter (chapter 188).
- The Snake Demon has similar characteristics to Doma. The similarity exists in that the two Demons eat only certain humans and are praised by humans. And the Iguro Family is very similar to the Eternal Paradise Cult.
- Although she is a flashback antagonist and not even a Twelve Kizuki, her hobby of eating babies easily makes her the cruelest of the normal demons.
