Slan is a major antagonist in the dark fantasy manga/anime series Berserk. She is a member of the God Hand, a group of demons responsible for spreading evil throughout the world. Slan is a sadomasochist who thrives on cruelty and is fascinated by Guts for his overwhelming hatred and tenacity.
In Japanese, she is voiced by the late Atsuko Tanaka in the 1997 anime and the Millenium Falcon Arc video game and by Miyuki Sawashiro in the Golden Age Arc movie, the 2016 anime and the Berserk Musou video game. In English, she is voiced by C.L Jones in the 1997 anime, by Cindy Robinson in the Golden Age Arc movie, (who also voices The End in Sonic Frontiers and Queen Beryl in the 90s Sailor Moon anime), and by Allegra Clark in the 2016 anime, who also voices Zazan in HunterxHunter.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Like Griffith, she shed her redeeming qualities by sacrificing a large number of her loved ones to be eaten by Apostles in order to become a member of the God Hand.
- As a member of the God Hand, she helps spread misery and chaos throughout the world.
- She created a pagan cult where she is worshipped as the Goddess of Flame. This cult participates in several blood orgies and boils children alive as part of the process to initiate new members into the cult.
- During the Eclipse, she explains to members of the Band of the Hawk that Griffith will sacrifice them to become a member of the God Hand, taking pleasure from their despair.
- She watched as Femto raped Casca while Guts was forced to watch, actually shedding tears of joy and viewing the entire act as a thing of beauty.
- Along with the other God Hand members, Slan attempts to convince The Count to sacrifice his daughter, Theresia, in order to rejuvenate himself.
- She grows a lustful obsession towards Guts, eagering to claim Guts to herself and rape him.
- She created the realm of Qliphoth, a wooded area corrupted by her od and home to creatures such as trolls and ogres, which go into towns, consuming humans and kidnapping women to impregnate them, which results in their deaths.
- She manifests in the realm of Qliphoth, torturing Guts and taking sexual pleasure in his pain and all his negative emotions. Slan tries to convince Guts into becoming an Apostle in order to take his revenge on Femto.
- This also demonstrates she has no loyalty to her fellow God Hand members.
- She creates several monsters to try and kill Skull Knight.
- Slan takes pleasure in Guts stabbing her, then forces herself upon Guts by kissing him.
