~ Chord threatening Nick Chambers.

Simon Chord, simply known as Chord, is the main antagonist of the 2014 found footage mystery-thriller film Open Windows.

He is a cyberterrorist who manipulated Nick Chambers into spying on a famous actress Jill Goddard in order to get close to her in order to livestream her death to millions.

He was portrayed by Neil Maskell.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Chord manipulates Nick Chambers into spying on Jill Goddard and her agent, Tony, by saying Jill cancelled the competition to meet her that Nick was participating in.
  • Chord gets Nick to taze Tony when he finds them and has Nick tie Tony up and leave him in the hotel room, threatening to abandon Nick and send footage of him tazing Tony to the police if he doesn't.
  • It's then revealed that Chord set up the fake contest that Nick clicked on in order to use Nick.
  • Hacking into Jill's laptop and forcing Nick to send her a file, Chord sadistically forces Jill strip nude and make sexual gestures on camera by torturing Tony and forcing her not to call the police.
  • When a SWAT team shows up at Jill's house to defuse the situation, Chord uses time delayed cameras to escape after kidnapping Jill and rigs the house to explode, killing the dozen or so SWAT agents.
  • After causing a car crash, Chord then hacks into the internet to show the video of Jill stripping nude and making sexual gestures, which shows on over a third of all websites.
  • It's then revealed that despite being rumoured to be a notorious hacker named Nevada, Chord actually "killed" Nevada and stole his equipment before the events of the film. Chord then finds Nick in a crashed car and shoots him.
  • Chord then uses explosives to livestream Jill's death on the internet in which he says to the viewers that he'd let her live if more than half of the viewers leave the website, which doesn't happen, resulting in him "killing" Jill in front of millions of viewers.
  • After stopping Jill from escaping, Chord finds out that Nevada is actually alive, as well as Nick, and attempts to find and kill Nick again.
  • After realizing Nevada was pretending to be Nick and rescued Jill while Chord was trying to find Nick, Chord rushes back into the warehouse and attempts to kill both Nevada and Jill before his warehouse is set ablaze and he is blown up.
  • While he seemed to have potential twisted care for Jill or standards against her fans and friends using and damaging her, Chord not only had no problem with killing her or sexually abusing her, but it is also clear that Chord is way worse than any possible perverted fans that Jill had.
