Shouichi Shinkawa, also known as Red-Eyed XaXa in Sword Art Online, and Death Gun or Sterben in Gun Gale Online, is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Atsushi Kanamoto) in the Sword Art Online franchise.
He is a major antagonist in the Aincrad arc and the main antagonist of the Phantom Bullet arc. He was one of the 10,000 players who were trapped in Sword Art Online, as well as a member of the infamous murder guild Laughing Coffin, where he acted as the guild's master swordsman.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Ryota Ohsaka in Aincrad arc and by Souichirou Hoshi in Phantom Bullet arc. In English, he was voiced by Benjamin Diskin, who also voiced Szayel Aporro Granz in Bleach, Black Doom in Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Venom in The Spectacular Spider-Man.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Committed player-killing in Sword Art Online after PoH convinced him all the murders will be blamed on Akihiko Kayaba.
- Attempted to kill Kains, Schmitt and Yolko under orders of Grimlock.
- Killed 2 members of Knights of the Blood Oath after they came to disband the Laughing Coffin.
- Attempted to kill Kirito during the said raid.
- Corrupted his brother Kyouji Shinkawa by playing on his fears of failing his father's goals and insecurity of losing his brother for 2 years into being an ally of further serial killings.
- Stalked other players at first for his own amusement in GGO using his Invisibility Cloak, and later for learning their patterns so that Death Gun could carry out their killings.
- Stole the data of 16 players of GGO so that Death Gun can find out where they live.
- Broke into his father's hospital to steal succinylcholine to use as the murder weapon.
- Killed XeXeeD, supposedly to take revenge for his brother, but actually to satisfy his own bloodlust for not being able to kill for months due to government surveillance.
- Killed Usuijo Tarako.
- Planned the murder of Shino Asada alongside his co-conspirators of Death Gun.
- Attempted to kill Kirito again in the finals of Battle of Bullets tournament, just to prove himself the superior swordsman.
- Attempted to kill Sinon in the finals of the third Bullet of Bullets tournament to test if Kirito was the same person from SAO or just a pretender.
- Although he had a difficult youth as a sickly boy who had no hope of inheriting his family's business, he quickly finds out that he enjoys being stronger than other people in the virtual worlds and sees outright murder as a way to prove his power.
