Shinnok is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Shao Kahn) of the 2020 direct-to-video animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, one of the two main antagonists (alongside Shao Kahn) of the 2021 direct-to-video animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, and the main antagonist of the 2023 direct-to-video animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match.
He was once an Elder God before he betrayed his brothers and sisters and was banished to the Netherrealm which he took over. He now seeks to awaken the One Being and destroy all the realms as revenge for his imprisonment.
He was voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, who also voiced Deathshead in Wolfenstein, Baron Zemo in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Solaris in All-Star Superman, Abomination in the 2010 Marvel Animated Universe, Valak in The Conjuring franchise, Kano in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge and Emperor Nefarious in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
What Makes Him Pure Evil[]
- He betrayed his fellow Elder Gods, which got him imprisoned in the Neatherrealm.
- He made the Neatherrealm a hellish place were many where tortured for all of eternity.
- He attempted to conquer Earthrealm with the help of his demons, including Sareena, who formed a cult there.
- His first orders when arriving to Earthrealm is to kill many humans.
- He attempted to kill Johnny Cage for being a threat.
- While he may have viewed Quan Chi as his loyal servant, it did not take him very long to quickly get over the latter's death even when Quan Chi declared to Scorpion that Shinnok will avenge him.
- He threatened to flay Scorpion alive if he did not cooperate with him and then bring him back to life to do it again.
- After promising Sektor, Cyrax and the Lin Kuei Grandmaster payment for finding the Kamidogu for him, he went back on his word and had them killed after they completed their task, and were of no further use to him.
- He planned to destroy all realms after summoning the One Being to get revenge on his brothers and sisters.
