~ Shane Wyland pimping Robert Brooks out to another pedophile. |
Shane Wyland is the main antagonist of the Criminal Minds episode "Into the Woods". He is a pedophile and serial killer who preys on young boys.
He was portrayed by Gill Gayle.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Years before the events of the episode in 1994, he was convicted and jailed for molesting a ten-year-old boy.
- Between 2001 to 2010, he would abduct, molest and murder 12 boys on the Appalachian Trail. In spite of his knee gaining a permanent limp in 2006, he continued his abduction and killings, albeit less frequently.
- Abducted Robert and Ana Brooks and kept them locked away in a cage, later molesting Robert after asking Ana if she wanted a flashlight.
- Tried to stop Ana from escaping by grabbing her leg, only letting go when Robert kicked him in his bad knee, which allowed Ana to escape.
- Took Robert with him to see Brandon Stiles for painkillers and cash, in exchange for letting Stiles have one hour alone with Robert.
- Manages to evade both the Police and the BAU, escaping back into the wilderness after shaving and changing his hairstyle, leaving him free to continue his crimes.
- Shows no care for Stiles, as he had previously stolen painkillers from Stiles in the past, not to mention him allowing Stiles to be captured by the BAU in order to escape on his own.
- Despite the absurdly high heinous standards for the franchise, Wyland stands out for not only his high kill count, but for also having the unique niche of pimping out one of his victims to another pedophile.
- While he did not molest Ana, he showed no intentions of letting her go when she tried to escape, even grabbing onto her leg.
Trivia[]
- Shane Wyland is currently the only Pure Evil in Criminal Minds to have successfully evaded the BAU and end up a Karma Houdini. However, this is downplayed by the fact that his lack of a cure would provide him a slow but painful death along with lowering his overall threat level.
