Scourge is the secondary antagonist of the Transformers stop-motion fan movie Hearts of Steel: Crimson Skies by TFI Creations, which is an adaptation of the comic book mini-series of same name by IDW Publishing.
He is a Decepticon who, prior to arriving on Earth and taking on the robot mode design that allowed him to transform into a blimp, was known for hunting down and killing several Cybertronians for their heads as trophies. Having survived the explosion and reverted back to his original form so he could transform into a train just like Optimus Prime—the Cybertronian whom he was designed after—Scourge was tasked by Starscream into retrieving an important cargo from the Autobots to tip the war's tide to the Decepticons' favor. He is also Bumblebee and Cliffjumper's arch-nemesis.
He was portrayed by Transformers: Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Robots in Disguise 2000 Universe Scourge in his Cybertron form and by Mastermind Creations KM-02 Knight Morpher Annihilator in his Earth form, and voiced by SpookyDman.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Despite being designed to look like Optimus Prime, Scourge has a clear moral agency since he's fully aware of his surroundings and has the personality of a sadistic psychopath.
- Since the fan movie's first few minutes established that events akin to those shown in the Hearts of Steel comic are canon to the film's storyline, then he also adopted the form he used in said comic upon awakening in the late 19th Century and still behaved just fine, thus debunking the possibilty of having moral agency issues.
- While he spared Cliffjumper despite having discovered him infiltrating his hideout, he only did it so he could spread his taunting message of his victims to the Autobots.
- While his killings before arriving on Earth happened off-screen, they still have a huge impact on the story, as this is why he was deemed the most deranged and sadistic Decepticon in Cybertronian history in the first place. Even Cliff told Bumblebee this was the reason he decided to turn from Scout to Warrior, as some of Scourge's victims were friends and colleagues, thus making things personal between them.
- He committed the same crimes he did in the comic that inspired the film, only here he survived the attempt at his life by reverting back to his original form.
- He killed Ratchet when he refused to hand over the cargo, before taking his head to taunt 'Bee and Cliffjumper over his death.
- After being informed that the cargo was found, he attempted to throw Cliffjumper and Bumblebee off a cliff before taking the cargo back to the Decepticons, though they both survived.
- He lured Optimus into a trap in order to kill him with the other Decepticons, unaware that 'Bee and Cliff got the cargo back from them.
- After failing to find Cliff and 'Bee, he killed Acid Storm for calling him out for his disobedience and ordering him back to base while mockingly asking who would tell Starscream about what he did, before adding his head to his collection.
- Upon retrieving the cargo again, he chased Bumblebee and Cliffjumper down with intent on killing them both.
- Despite being a Decepticon, he isn't shown getting along with them, such as angrily telling the Seekers to go away because he doesn't need help to go after Cliffjumper and Bumblebee.
- Despite Starscream being the reason for the fan movie's events to happen in the first place, Scourge manages to stand out due to him murdering his victims with his handheld weapons and butchering them in gory and horrific ways.
Trivia[]
- This version of Scourge is, alongside DaFuq!?Boom!'s version of Soundwave and TJOmega's version of Starscream, one of three Pure Evil villains of the Transformers franchise to come from fan works. This is also, alongside his live-action version, one of two incarnations of Scourge to be Pure Evil.
